CLEVELAND – The Fox 8 ITEAM has learned that one bullet hit an empty charter bus in a parking lot off East 101st Street in Cleveland.

In the meantime, another bullet went into a hospital room on the campus of University Hospitals. The patient was not in the room at the time.

Many out-of-town police officers are staying in the area. A spokesperson says the officers are staying in a part of campus up to a mile away from where the bus hit by the gunfire was parked.

University Hospitals says it has stepped up security near the building where the shot hit the window.

Investigators are trying to figure out if that was stray gunfire or somehow targeted.

The University says in the incident involving the bus, a witness reported seeing someone fire from a white sedan passing nearby.

...one bullet hit an empty charter bus in a parking lot off East 101st Street in Cleveland.

Bullets flying around the east side of Cleveland is not exactly a newsworthy event. At least that's the case when the RNC is not in town.

If this was RNC-related, it would have been more than one bullet and the bus would not have been empty.
