“I said HE might have wanted to die “suicide by cop,”
LOL! So you think every punk should be beat up because he might want to die at the hands of the cops?

I have to say, you keep ignoring some of the most important facts of this case.

You essentially said the threat posed by the man was over because six guns were drawn on him. I said that was no guarantee that he wouldn't resist. It's a simple fact that if he felt like dying, if his mood suddenly shifted again, he could easily start resisting.

“And again, that’s wholly your suggestion that this man should have been shot.”

Only in the context that you stated the cops might have feared for their safety ...

“The police have to make every effort to use the least possible force necessary - and that is the least amount of force that reasonable officers, at the time, would consider necessary.”

And what necessitated them beating him up while he was flat on the ground complying with the cop’s directives?

“You have yet to answer for how the police should have physically apprehended him, and on what you believe would have happened if they did as you say they should have. Please answer those questions.”

I answered that before. They had seven big dudes not counting the one with the dog. He was not that big and was face down on the ground with his hands behind him.

“You essentially said the threat posed by the man was over because six guns were drawn on him. “

Go back and read my post. You stated that the cops did not have the situation under control. I responded that he was face flat on the ground with six guns pointed at him essentially saying that the cops had the situation under control.

“I said that was no guarantee that he wouldn’t resist. It’s a simple fact that if he felt like dying, if his mood suddenly shifted again, he could easily start resisting.”

And, at that time, the cops should take appropriate actions to restrain him and protect themselves.

“I have to say, you keep ignoring some of the most important facts of this case.”

The only important fact in this discussion is:

Do cops have the right to beat up someone who is complying with a lawful arrest?

” Or he just might have been irrational, perhaps under the influence of some drug, and didn’t care about anyone’s life or death, including his own.”
His actions as he got out of the car showed he cared about his life. He was able to rationally comply with the cops directives.

As I said, that in itself means nothing. Sometimes people stop when pulled over by police (comply), then either attack police or flee (resist after first complying). He had already fled once and led them on an hour-long high-speed. He MIGHT have complied, and he might not have.

There is no excusing these cops for beating a guy peacefully complying with orders. No excuse. I didn’t say it is easy to have your adrenaline through the roof after a 100 mph chase and come down off it like a lamb all calm and logical, but that is all part of what makes being a cop a hard job. You just don’t get to go beating on guys because YOU have an emotional problem on the job.

The cops deserve what they get. They do. These are some of the ones that give all cops a bad name and give Black Lives Matter their excuse.

“He MIGHT have complied, and he might not have.”

So the cops have the right to beat him up for something he MIGHT do?

You are right that some people under some circumstances just can’t switch gears. True, but not acceptable. Cops who can’t switch gear and go beating people complying with lawful orders have to be punished, period. Good for the goose is good for the gander. Maybe not fired or put in jail, depends on their past history and if this is the first time this has happened, but they have to be punished.

Police are under way too much scrutiny today to let bad cops off with a warning and no formal punishment the public agrees is fitting. Doing so just gives fodder to scum like BLM.

” peacefully complying with orders.”

Just jump ahead to #67. He continues that that doesn’t matter. What matters is what the guy might do.

Good grief. You have people who love cops no matter what they do wrong and people who hate cops no matter what they do right.

How about treating cops like the rest of us. Praise them for doing right and condemn them for doing wrong. I’m posting to you but I mean all the people out there who would defend the police beating a calm compliant perp surrendering to be arrested.

Oy vey!

So every perp complying with police could snap and attack at any moment before both cuffs are secured, so lets let cops just beat the $#^t out of every perp who isn’t secure cuffed int he back of a cruiser yet.

For crying out loud. That is called torturing an argument and refusing to admit you are wrong.

Sheesh!

Under our system of jurisprudence, if you know it or not, it is the Courts that punish the law violators, after being proven guilty in open Court. Not the police.

I would not go that far. I have fared fairly well by doing what the policeman said after being pulled over.

The fact of the matter is that he was compliant before he got the hell beat out of him.

I don't know how it is where you came from, but in the United States of America, it is the Courts and a Judge that imposes punishment. not the police, as the arrested former officers probably informed. And said punishment is imposed only after a finding of guilty in open Court by a jury of his/her peers, or a Judge. If you are unhappy with that, the solution is simple. Return to where you came. Here, the police investigate, apprehend, they do not punish. Once the arrest is made, the arrestee is in the custody of the Court.
