Here is the part that doesn’t ring true”

“Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant. “

If she wrote them down, she knew it was from Michelle’s speech. She didn’t need to check the speech to know she was plagiarizing the speech- like the exact 23 word string in the speech.

Yes, politicians do it all the time. Right or wrong to do it is a judgement call.

..the bottom line is ..she did it. It is ridiculous for people to try to cover for obvious plagiarism like so many did on this site.

FYI, there are online services that check plagiarism. You simply upload the document and the service does the rest by cross-referencing millions of published texts. Very easy and relatively inexpensive.

Not a big deal. As Comey says in far more serious matters, no intent can be divined just careless!

Trump wins the news cycle yet again. Turns a lemon into lemonade - attention on Melania’s speech, looks good not firing a minority woman.

During his Presidency, screw UPS will happen. Good to know he can deal with them wisely. Nobody lied to Congress or the FBI in a national security matter. It was just generic positive speech

It’s also ridiculous for people to keep yelling about plagiarism which is the latest word they learned and can’t stop using it like little wannabe Einsteins.

There is no actual crime or even ethical breech in this context it is a made up offense. Modeling your speech after the current First Lady could be seen as an act of respect. It is not “stealing” anything.

There is no such thing as plagiarism in this context, not in any meaningful sense.

But some here would sink the nation and the world over a wife’s feel good speech at a political convention.

I’m glad now this horrid crime has been put to rest in the small minds that felt execution, or at least the election of Hillary, was in order.

I on the other hand could care less about stupid crap from the democrats/ MSM and I’d rather spit it back in their faces.

Btw I thought from the beginning Melania should have said she admired Mrs. Obama’s speech and wanted to express some of the same themes.

Seriously?
It is ridiculous for people to try to cover for obvious plagiarism like so many did on this site.
Nobody cares. It's not important. This ain't college debate club. Let. It. Go.

What are some good things Melania said in her speech? It was a long speech.
