Any woman diagnosed with breast cancer should, IMO, have both removed. My mother did not, and the second time around killed her.
When it came to be my wife's turn I told her the same thing.."I didn't marry you for your tits get rid of both.". She did, came through with flying colors, and didn't even need to do chemo. That was ten years ago, and she is still "free and clear". She had lost her own mother to B.C., so had been religious about mammograms, hence caught it very early.
When my sister-in-law had it, I tried to convince her to have the double, but her doctor convinced her to do the single. So far, so good. I hope it stays that way.
