he Trump staffer who took the fall for lifting several passages of Melania Trump’s speech from an earlier address by Michelle Obama is a registered Democrat in New York, public records show.
Meredith McIver, a longtime writer for the Trump organization, admitted that she had helped Melania compose the speech she delivered at the GOP convention Monday night.
Melania, she said, had read her several passages of Obama’s 2008 speech to the Democratic convention over the phone and she mistakenly inserted them into the speech, she admitted in a statement.
Team Trump at first adamantly denied that there was any plagiarism — but fessed up Wednesday when McIver admitted the mistake.

I understand what you are saying but she would have faded away if she resigned and not been held accountable. Big deal to resign - not. Free and clear to collect anything she earned on the side. It just feels intentional - Melania was the vulnerable one and the one who could have taken a big hit and diverted attention away from the other speakers. Nothing is being said about Benghazi because it is all about Melania.

Trump said mistakes happen and have her a pass. The fact that she is a Democrat didn’t seem to bother his team at all. It bothers me.

Kind of like a lot of professions. Most folks in professional sports probably don’t work for their favorite team, and they even play against them periodically, and yet they go all out. Advertisers don’t necessarily think the stuff they’re advertising is any good, but they put together the best campaign they can. The military doesn’t always believe our foreign policy is worth a damn, but they still defend our freedom to give them the wrong mission. Really when it comes to beliefs there’s two types of jobs: the ones where what you believe doesn’t matter, and the ones you shouldn’t let your beliefs impact your performance. Debate club is really useful for folks go on the second path.

One of my co-workers keep saying Trump is a plant. IMHO, if Trump is a willing plant, then the Trump name goes down in infamy. His kids, grandkids and great grandkids will be shamed for ever more. I don't think Trump wants the family name marred that way. If he is an unwilling plant and gets snookered by the Dems....I believe him and his family will try and destroy the people he feels responsible for the rest of their lives.
