Cruz supporters boo Trump's name
The Hill ^ | July 20, 2016 | Ben Kamisar

CLEVELAND — Hours before he was scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention, former presidential candidate Ted Cruz drew loud boos from his supporters at the mere mention of the GOP's nominee, Donald Trump.

Cruz, who has not endorsed Trump despite accepting a speaking slot for the convention's Wednesday night session, chuckled and let the boos continue during a thank-you event for his delegates and supporters in Cleveland.

While the crowd at the lakeside bar made their feelings clear about Trump, Cruz didn't offer any signal as to what he would say in his convention speech or whether he would endorse the billionaire businessman. Cruz former campaign manager Jeff Roe refused to answer repeated requests from reporters before the address to supporters on whether Cruz would make an endorsement.

The Texas senator elicited the crowd's negative reaction toward Trump when he noted that during the primaries, "In an amazing field of 17 talented, amazing candidates, we beat 15 of those candidates. We just didn't beat 16."

"Our party now has a nominee," he continued, as his delegates immediately cut him off with a string of boos.

In a stroke of luck, Trump's plane, carrying the nominee, flew across the sky just as Cruz mentioned Trump's name.

The boos continued as many in the crowd pointed to the plane emblazoned with the name of their party's nominee, and Cruz couldn't help but laugh.

"That was pretty well orchestrated. Jeff, did you email them to fly the plane right when I said that?" Cruz yelled to Roe. But a potential run was certainly on the minds of the attendees, who repeatedly broke in to chant "2020," the year of the next presidential election.

"I don't know what the future is going to hold, I don't know what will happen, but what I do know is my unshakable faith in the men and women here," he said.

"Every one of us has an obligation to follow our conscience, to speak the truth and truth is unchanging, to defend liberty. There's a lot of talk about unity — I want to see unity and the way to see unity is to unite around shared principles, to unite around Liberty, and for us to empower the grassroots."

If I were Cruz I do not know if I could endorse.
After sacrificing so much for years to have the ‘so called’ conservative base savage his integrity over debatable issues would prolly be too much for me.
Thinking I would most likely cash out and go fishing & raise my children.
I can remember when loyalty meant something to conservatives.
Back in the day, back when some things were sacred.
Perhaps after 17 years I am in the wrong place.

Well, then maybe you best take your sorry and sore cruzer loser butt, elsewhere.

cRuz is the one who has FAILED to honor a pledge HE signed, by refusing to endorse the nominee. Nothing ‘sacred’ about that.

cRuz lost any and ALL integrity he may have EVER had when he wrote the Op-Ed supporting TPA with his partner in lies, Lyin Ryan.

cRuz lost even more integrity when his sleazy campaign team decided how funny it would be to tweet out lies that Dr Carson was dropping out of the race, after IA.

cRuz and his Contamination cRew have completely sullied and permanently tarnished ANY integrity he may have thought he ever had. Palling around with Beck put all doubts about that, to rest.

His latest antics have confirmed that our suspicions about - and disdain for - the liar were justified.

So....take your sorry, cRuz supporting self and mosey on down the road.

I saw the video on Fox News of Trump's plane flying over Lyin' Ted's little "rally"... it was hysterically funny! ;-D

LOL what a self-aggrandizing POS. The “great battle” is what is coming now to defeat Hillary and bring Trump/Pence to the White House.

I was a Cruz guy, but lost enthusiasm when he started the crazy preacher routine and his dad said he had a “vision” that his son was to be the leader of our nation. Nope, I am not following that sort of craziness.

I sure hope it doesn’t happen, but Cruz just may screw the pooch royally tonight. I don’t trust him at all.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope he does the right thing and endorses Trump enthusiastically, without any egg-sucking.

Don’t mean to toot my own horn, but okay I will.

I’ve been onto Cruz’s bs for sometime now, much of which I (treading gingerly) posted on FR.

Cruz has been aligned with the Bush family for years, ditto with his wife.

Do you recall a few short years back when Jeb could no long call himself a “conservative?” I do, and posted that quote here many times.

“Conservative” to the Bush Family, CRUZ, Kasich, Fiorina, Rubio, etc. is a misnomer.

Cruz is a poser, another foreign poser who has sealed his records, and has built his resume on a ‘fairytale’.

IMO, he’s as phony as O, just duping the other team.

For shame. These may be Cruz supporters, but they are not conservatives.

Any real conservative is supporting Trump now against Hillary.

Anyone not supporting Trump at this point is in Hillary’s pockets or so deluded that he should be in an institution, where he can imagine that he is Napoleon, or that Cruz is president.

So, you’re saying Ted should just blow everything up—that’ll show `em! `If it’s not me, then let Hillary win: I’m going fishing.’?

Sounds like something another megalomaniac hiding in a bunker did, blaming the German people and bringing gotterdammerung down on their heads.
Yeah, maybe you are in the wrong place.

You tell him, Jane! Enough of this `Poor, poor pitiful Ted ... ‘ nonsense. We have an election to win.
Even if he does the right thing tonight, Ted can GTH.

Or as glasseye suggests, maybe he might try to get to know his kids.
Or maybe that’s the problem; that was his problem with us: we got to know him.

If he doesn’t keep his pledge to endorse the Republican nominee then he will have savaged his own integrity in the most public way possible, in front of the country and the world.

“After sacrificing so much for years to have the ‘so called’ conservative base...”

The fact that he, and his retard supporters, keep calling people “so-called conservatives” reeks of a childish entitlement and is the reason why he is where he is.

“I can remember when loyalty meant something to conservatives.”

More entitlement. I swear you people are too stupid for words.

“Once the convention hysteria has come and gone, there’s the RedState Gathering, scheduled for mid-August in Denver. It is, essentially, a conservative grass-roots training event with a bristling speakers list. Among those on the roster: Sen. Ben Sasse, Govs. Nikki Haley and Greg Abbott, Reps. Jim Bridenstine, Ken Buck and Doug Lamborn; Matt Schlapp, John R. Bolton, Glenn Beck, Carly Fiorina, Katie Pavlich, Rick Perry; plus radio hosts Steve Deace, Erick Erickson and Hugh Hewitt. Investigate the “RS Gathering” event at RedState.com.”

Oh boy, sounds like fun. That gathering should set the all-time record for the most cucks in one room.

Just listened to Cruz. Okay, Cruz supporters - you can agree with me now. What a sorry performance by him and his supporters.

And NO endorsement. Where is his honor? You have all said it existed and he would endorse. Are your eyes finally open?

Words cannot describe the disgust I feel for him.

Where is this “integrity” you speak of NOW then?

He refused to HONOR THE PLEDGE HE SIGNED to support the Nominee that the PEOPLE picked.

He didn’t do it. He has NO integrity.

The embarrassing part is you actually may think your tirade is proof of anything.
It is not.
There was a time ours was the party of reflection, timely thinking.
That seems to be missing.
Attacking the messenger does not invalidate the message.

That’s cute

More of that self-righteous lip-flapping from you people. Always the damn victims and lamenting how we aren’t “smart” enough to have voted for Ted.

Who said anything about intelligence.
I think it is perspective.
I sit behind my computer and watch Cruz bucking the system to the point his own party hates him and 9 months after Trump joins the race the man is called a lying establishment phoney, by the same people who he has been carrying water for.
There are some lunatics on our side.
The level of discourse here on FR has been in decline, something very special has slowly been lost.
Pity.

Lyin’ Ted sure took a dump on the commission tonight. Is political career is over. I doubt he can get reelected in 2018 and if Trump becomes president I’m sure he will campaign against him pretty hard and Trump will be justified in doing so.
