Matt Drudge was a VERY early Freeper and showed up IN PERSON to TWO different national FreeRepublic events.
And he didn’t throw his weight around AT ALL, and was totally cool.
In fact, he was a completely modest, self-effacing participant who I believe just could not stand staying away.
Matt linked to FR (many times to his detriment) and was responsible for something like 1/3 of Freepers finding their way here, back in the day.
We owe Matt SO MUCH and I’ll never forget it.

Drudge has been the major force in media for 20 years. Yes, he only links. But he links what others bury. We are all awake as a result. Thank God for Matt Drudge. One guy and a computer.

Matt Drudge’s speech to the National Press was epic. It was a blowout. They threw everything at him but the kitchen sink, and he took it and hurled back twice as much, because he had the truth on his side.
Epic.
I totally agree.
He is a total hero.
He won my undying support when he had his TV show and his producers told him NOT to go on the air with an unborn child in the womb holding a doctor’s finger.
He went on air with it and was immediately fired.
He is a fearless hero in my book.
I found FR when it was the link WHITEWATER FILE on Drudge. I still miss Drudge’s radio show too.
