How is it that Trump has better political instincts than a sitting senator?One evidence of that is that people have been asking him to run for president since the 80s, and he knew not to do it until now, when there was absolutely no alternative.

How is it that Trump has better political instincts than a sitting senator? As a real estate developer, he's been having to deal with politicians to get waivers and authorizations for his projects, for close to five decades. I think he understands professional politicians better than they understand themselves.
