I liked Gingrich’s take on one thing Cruz said (paraphrase) ‘vote for the candidate that will uphold the constitution’.

Gingrich said ‘there is only one candidate running that will do that and that is Trump’.

So, there is lyin’ Teds out. He can now say ‘yeah, that’s what I meant all along ... really, I really did ...’

I just hope he does it in print because he is as hard to listen to as shrillary.

If I didn’t support Trump, Christopher Walken is my first alternate.

Cruz is a worthless, unprincipled crybaby. He should either join the faculty at Mizzou or hang himself. Either way, the only victory he owns is the one in his mind.

I won't castigate or condemn Senator Cruz.

But I will say that my conscience allows me no other option than to support the Trump/Pence ticket. And vigorously at that, though I did not want to nominate Trump, for the alternative is Hillary Clinton and a Nazi Supreme Court, and that's unacceptable.

If Senator Cruz cannot support the ticket, even in a token manner, he shouldn't have addressed the convention (or been permitted to frankly, the point of the convention is to support the ticket). I don't think he did our party or himself any favors.

The whole thing made me feel dejected, exactly the opposite of what you want.

I don’t; at least I hope not. I’m aware a lot can change in 4 years, but I would like to believe that people who supported Trump, people that wanted party unity, will remember Ted got up there and gave a speech for himself and not this country. I pray that Trump wins so this isn’t a concern. Although John Roberts on Fox said Ted wants to run in 2020 regardless. If Trump is in office, unless he is doing a bad job, that will backfire even more on Ted. Donors won’t touch him, let alone most voters.

Don’t forget that Ted has an election in 2018 for his Senate slot. If enough people are angry, he might lose that. That would make his POTUS dreams even harder than he has already made them.

LOL

Me too!

I’ve had edited versions of him up, every election year.

Ted Cruz didn’t help himself. Ted Cruz made Trump look good in my opinion. Unfortunately, he gave the media ammo to say the convention is a mess (which I think is a total lie). They will turn around and say the Democrat Convention is the best ever regardless of what happens. Ted Cruz could have helped unite the #NeverTrump fragment of this party, but he knew that some were so far gone that they would consider it a betrayal, so he stood with them. His endorsement might have led some to unite with Trump, but we’ll never know. It was dejecting because Ted took all the spotlight in the news and social media coverage of this. The focus should have been on Eric and (most importantly) the VP speech.

Cruz should have never been given a speaking slot on the same night with the VP. Hell, he should have never given a speaking slot period. It really does show that Trump is the bigger man to offer him a slot at his convention. Ted came and acted disrespectful.

Cruz didn't have to do this. He could have stayed true to his convictions, as misguided as they are, and still endorsed Trump.

Well excuse me, but if your convictions are misguided, does it really matter what you do? And why should we care?

On a positive note Rubio endorsed Trump tonight and he should be useful in securing the Cuban vote in Florida.

I didn’t know that. That is good news. Florida is a key state, and if Rubio has any popularity there this can only help.

“By their fruits shall you know them.” Matthew 7:16

It is obvious that there are so many who would willingly sacrifice their country for their own ambition. We all know them - the petty self-seekers (Cruz, Kasich, Rubio); the empty talking heads (Will, Kristol, Levin); the open border traitors (Bush, Graham).

Their words are meaningless. They have no honor. They are not even worthy of our contempt.

RE Cruz:

It was disappointing. When he initially came out, I gave him credit for showing up, as a Man should do - suck it up, take the loss, understand what is at stake - it’s a LOT more than just your bruised pride (as Laura Ingraham pointed out). He didn’t tuck tail, hide behind the couch, and suck his thumb like little Jebbie is doing.

Opening congratulatory was good, and classy. And as for the rest, well - a lot of what he said WAS true, AND well-said.

But as a Man - he should have kept his word / pledge and supported the nominee. Do what you say, and keep your word. Otherwise, how can you trust ANYTHING he says?

He’s been around long enough to understand the game. And he blew it, big time.

Maybe, but Hillary JUMPED right on it.

He didn't help Trump and he could have done, as a minimum, what Ronald Reagan did in 1976 at the convention. The democrats are LOL. It allows the media to ignore the many good speeches last night.

Admittedly, it was a very rancorous primary campaign, but that’s not anything out of the ordinary. It’s often mano y mano unless there’s an overwhelming choice.

But in the end, Republican voters resoundingly chose Trump. It really wasn’t even close.

I supported Cruz (lukewarmly) in the primaries believing he was NOT one of the self-appointed GOP elitists like Jeb and Kasich. But he showed last night that he is no different than they are.

He not only thumbed his nose at Trump. He thumbed his nose at every one of Trump’s supporters.

For what reasons did he do that other than to be petty and spiteful and perpetuate divisions in the party?

...it is very important to keep the Republicans motivated.

If the prospect of a Hillary Clinton White House is not sufficient motivation, I don't know what is!

But also he left some room for future clarification by saying that one could and should vote the entire ticket up and down.

I interpreted that as a grudging, backhanded endorsement. Your mileage may vary.
