I view it this way - God leaves it up to us to save the Republic and we leave it up to God to save people.

Yes, it is God who saves people. But He told us to go forth and make disciples of all nations.
And yes I believe in saving the Republic, to a point. If it is God’s will, and not if it requires sacrificing what He has told us is His will for us. According to the Bible, at some point the world’s turning away from God will be irrevocable and the Lord will return.
