I didn’t see the entire thing last night so I might need your thoughts. Actually, I was reading them last night, and you were spot on.
1. I thought Laura Ingraham was very good. During the whole speech I wondered why she didn’t come out in support of Trump from the beginning. Showed me that she doesn’t have the courage I thought she did, because in her heart you could tell she has always been for him.
2. Rubio. What was that all about? Like Tinker Bell we hear his voice, rambling on. TOtal nonsense. Did he at any point endorse Trump?
3. Cruz. Starts off with a very warm welcome given to him. And throughout the beginning the speech is getting great response. He’s building towards the end, and then it becomes clear that he’s done the bait and switch. Baits the audience to think he’s going to endorse Trump, then switches and doesn’t.
The snarkiest politician of all. He thinks all he needs is 51% Trump is going to 80% AND beyond. Look for Trump to bring everyone back in. I think he’ll be gracious and make Kasich, Bush and Cruz look like the children they are.
Has anyone heard anything more about this? On Fox they were tearing it apart what Cruz did.
4. Newt gets better and better. He comes out and ends Cruz’ speech for him.
5. Pence. Gracious and humble man. Talks about our flamboyant successful charismatic leader, and they picked him to balance the ticket. hahahahaha.
Pretty well sums it up
If you choose any speeches to watch
Pence and Laura’ s.
Eric’s was good but not as powerful as his brothers.
Morning thought: when Trump chose Pence it was the last straw for Cruise !
Pence is successful. Better liked and practices his faith. He is probable right of Cruz. TC could see his followers slip away being not just satisfied with Pence but supporting the ticket including Ttump. What we witnessed was a desperate man trying to save himself
Uncle Henry, WNTM Mobile AL, seemed to be a Cruz supporter, but is being fair in criticizing the Cruz fiasco.
I'll offer some of my take on all this. I have and am a Trump supporter from way before the first primary. So that is where I am coming from.
After watching it all, I am jaw dropped over how solid Mike Pence is. He connected 100% with me. Knowing and seeing how calculating Trump has been to now, I think he had Cruz speak on Pence's night to make sure that Pence (or whoever his VP selection would be) did not overshadow Trump by dampening the media narrative with some dark drama. I think that answers the "why did Trump let Cruz speak" question.
After hearing and becoming acquainted with Mike Pence, I can see how Pence could have stole the heart of the convention. I actually believe he set himself up well for the future.
For Cruz, yes he is obviously targeting 2020, and he wanted to help that along by denting Trump apparently in tilting the Election to Hillary. All he accomplished really was cementing further the negative aspects of his persona in the minds of... a huge republican audience. Terrible.
Just one of the highlights of an amazing speech. He did an excellent job of introducing himself to those of us that don't really know a whole lot about him. Though I've been a Trump supporter from pretty early on, I also know that, in order for him to win, he would need to have someone with strong Conservative values behind him. Early on, I hoped that would be Cruz. I'm thankful we got Pence.
Cruz sealed his fate last night. Although he was my second choice, and I hung to the hope of a Trump/Cruz ticket until the very bitter end, his actions last night was completely deplorable. He committed political suicide last night. Pissed away what little career he had left.
Nikos, I just watched Laura’s speech. Her first line was that she was there to support Donald Trump.
Laura Ingraham was one of the very first Trump supporters
