The woman is then a writer who has helped pen books for the Trump org for many years. She is apparently, then, not a speech writer. Big difference. Totally unprofessional to copy verbatim phrases from one speech to use as filler for another speech. She said Melania fed her those phrases and then she absentmindedly inserted them into the new speech? Huh? Really? Then Melania didn’t recognize those same favorite phrases when she went about practicing the delivery over and over? Um, well, what can one say? We live and learn and obviously Melania was unaware of what is allowable and what isn’t which is why she needed better guidance.
It’s a tempest in a teapot. for sure. But I will bet Melania is getting a new savvy speech writer very soon. And this woman will go back to writing books ... at least for a while. Trump didn’t want to fire her because 1) she’s been there so long apparently doing good things and..2) he realizes she never should have been given that job in the first place. Not her fault and she shouldn’t have to pay for it while also protecting Melania. He’s a really good man. And the way he’s been able to diffuse this mess — oops she goofed, it happens! — shows extraordinary confidence and humanity.
