Interesting indeed. This convention is full of surprises.

So, one way to take Cruz is as a classless sore loser.

The other way is he refused to compromise his beliefs, principles, and ??? listened to Glenn Beck way too much.

It is possible to give your word/pledge and then later regret having done that...and take it back. Cruz has his reasons for pulling the stunt that he did and right now I truly don’t think we have a lot of room to judge him.

Whatever his reasons are, I hope for his sake he is well with his heart and soul.

Did Cruz congratulate Trump for winning the nomination?

I heard him say in his speech that he wanted to congratulate Donald Trump for winning the nomination, but I never heard him actually do it.

He's a funny guy, that Cubanadian, so I'm never quite sure what to make of him.

There are a lot of good people who supported Cruz. Not allowing Cruz to speak would seem like Trump not reaching out to them. I think most of his supporters will see Cruz for what he is now.

On the other hand, look at the bad press Cruz has received.
Trump gave him enough rope to hang himself. (He who signed a pledge to support the nominee.)

Then he will be our jackass

What is the point of debating this now?

Seriously?

If you are never trump, go over to DU, they are never Trump as well and you will fit right in

I believe he did at the very start of the speech. Said Trump’s name once and then moved on to speaking about liberty, freedom etc. http://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/transcript-ted-cruz-convention-speech

It’s possible to have high principles and no clue what’s going on. This seems to be the hand dealt to Ted Cruz. He may figure it all out by 2024 and be of some use to the nation then, but for now, he’s off on a tan(ed)gent and about to hurtle into outer darkness for eight years.

Like I said elsewhere, this was like D.B. Cooper only without a parachute or cash. Just a jump from the plane into the dark night with the cry “support the constitution” our last point of contact. If Trump is elected, he will swear to uphold the constitution and then he can be judged on whether he has done so, or not, by 2020. Cruz clearly feels either he can’t be elected (and Hillary will violate her oath) or that Trump will violate his oath. Otherwise he would have endorsed. But that’s a severe gamble to take in a nation with an activist Supreme Court that makes it rather difficult for a president to out-violate them.

Eccl 10:2 :" .. much like what Paul Ryan did earlier in the week.
Ask for unity in so many words without explicitly endorsing Trump."

Paul Ryan and the GOPe is dead to me !
If ever the 'Speaker of the House' Ryan is challenged
I fully expect the entire DemoRAT caucus to vote for him
and that alone, is enough to tell me about this Globalist GOPeeeer !

When Cruz spoke this morning, doubling down on his treachery, he looked like he had blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his ... wherever.

He may have said he wanted to congratulate Trump, but I never heard him say it, just that he wanted to.

See what I mean? How lawyerly of him.

Didn’t think of that. You’re right. The weasel couldn’t even summon up THAT much honor.

Cruz did “congratulate” Trump for winning the nomination, at the beginning of his speech. In the absence of any words of support or endorsement, it was just a perfunctory as what a candidate may say to the election winner from another party.

"I truly don’t think we have a lot of room to judge him"

???? We have plenty of "room" to judge him. He is trying to wreck Republican prospects in 2016 so that he can ride to the rescue in 4 or 8 years. That is an insanely dangerous course to take when a Hillary admin. poses such great harms to the country and the constitution.

He should have gotten over his "wounded feelings and bruised ego" as Laura Ingraham put it. Yes, we can judge Cruz and despise him for working to undermine the efforts to save America in 2016. Cruz is, in effect, for Hillary.

Cruz is done on the national stage. He is toast. I voted for him in our state primary but will never vote for him again.
