Colorado Town's Water Tests Positive for THC, Active Ingredient in Marijuana

Officials have urged residents in a small Colorado town not to consume their water after several wells tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

So far no illnesses have been linked to the water in Hugo -- a town of around 700 people located roughly 100 miles southeast of Denver -- according to officials.

The announcement comes after a local company was testing its own water and got a positive result. Local law enforcement was then notified and further testing in other locations took place, which revealed additional positive results, reports ABC Denver affiliate, KMGH.

"At this point we're not taking anything off the table," Captain Mike Yowell with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office told KMGH. "We're looking at all angles here."

This is prima facie proof everyone in Colorado is high.

THC is not water soluble. It CAN be suspended in water if heated to at least 170deg F.

As for sewage contamination, humans excrete only metabolites of THC, not THC.

I want to know why the EPA isn’t all over this like stink on sh*t, immediately finding the sources of the chemical, and shutting it down while arresting/fining with six-figure fines those responsible.

Do you realize the story is BS?

There is no THC in the well water. None.

What is being reported is not possible.

If it was a large multinational agricultural business like ADM, they would be. No headline for going after the local drug grower and merchant.

If your water comes from a municipal supply, chances are it’s packed full of antidepressants and other pharmaceutical contaminants pissed out by a drug-consumed population.

Zero useful information. No mention of what type of test, or concentration (and it might not even be THC..many chemical tests have interferences), just “we found some” (and even that needs to be labeled “maybe”).
