Yes, Mills Godwin. I read that there is a current controversy about naming another school for Godwin because he was at one time an avowed segregationist. But the voters of Virginia re-elected him in the mid 70s, long after segregation was an issue in Virginia.

The controversy I referred to occurred this past March in Prince William County and involved renaming Mills E. Godwin Middle School for George M. Hampton. One of the cited reasons was that Godwin was an avowed segregationist. It had nothing to do with Byrd. I can’t post the link but if you Google Mills Godwin, the first few entries cover the controversy.
