This should be a stark reminder of just how much America’s money has been devalued.
Most of us don’t realize that currency devaluation is a stealth tax, robbing America’s citizens of their wealth, and putting them in the poor condition we find ourselves in today.
Looking back at the high quality of life displayed in this picture is very nice, and bittersweet at the same time.

IIRC, my Dad got his first job as a new lawyer with a Chicago firm and was thrilled to get $110 a week (I hope I am remembering that correctly).
I actually just finished reading Stephen King's 11/22/63. It's a time travel novel (excellent!); in it, he really describes so well what life was like in the late 50's/early 60's.
There were still remnants of that life when I was a little girl in the late 60's. Simpler times...
