But there are too many self-loathing, guilt-ridden white liberals, plus those whites you speak of who are conservative on social issues, immigration, and trade, but who have been put off by the donor-class ownership of the GOP.

I don’t disagree, but unfortunately plenty of whites don’t see it that way. I think things would have to get much worse before whites ever consolidated to the 70% or more level.
