The creator of ‘USA Freedom Kids’ now plans to sue campaign

FULL TITLE: The creator of the viral pro-Trump act ‘USA Freedom Kids’ now plans to sue the campaign

Within hours of their performance at a Donald Trump rally in Pensacola, Fla., last January, the U.S.A. Freedom Kids were a sensation.

You remember the video: Three preteen girls in star-spangled outfits crisply working through simple choreography as they lip-synced an upbeat update to "Over There."

That infectious performance kicked off a flurry of media appearances. The Freedom Kids told "Inside Edition" that Trump told them that he planned to listen to their CD all night. The group, which had been around for about 2½ years by that point, was a viral sensation largely inextricable from Trump himself.

Now, though, the relationship is different. Jeff Popick, father of the smallest Freedom Kid and author of "Freedom's Call" (the song performed at the Trump rally), told The Washington Post by phone on Monday that he planned to file a lawsuit against the campaign for violating its agreement with the group.

"This is not a billion-dollar lawsuit," Popick said. "I'm doing this because I think they have to do the right thing. And if this means having to go through the court system to enforce them doing the right thing, then that's what I have to do. I'm not looking to do battle with the Trump campaign, but I have to show my girls that this is the right thing."

Popick is quick to explain that the agreement was not written down, but, instead, involves promises from various agents of the Trump campaign which he says were then broken.

If they wanted to do more business, the best way was not to make an adversary of Trump.

It was his responsibility to ask ...

and was it so hard for him to take his own card/portable table and a pretty cloth to cover it ???

and do you think people wanting to buy the album would have cared if he just stood there with the CDs in a Walmart bag to sell them ???

and how many did he actually sell ???

my money is on greed...

is exploiting his child his only income ???

Cannot trademark the Flag or Freedom.

Every parent believes their child is the next rock star. No they are just a kid. Sadly these parents are deluded.

Quick fame requires more than good feelings, it takes discipline, wisdom, intelligence, work and luck.

Good feelings are not in short supply. EVERY parent has them.

Where is Simon Cowell for a reality check?

Yes, blame the victim. Great idea. Who said that they were the ones who made an adversary of Trump? I think that someone who doesn't keep up their end of a bargain are the ones who make themselves adversaries.

[I think that someone who doesn’t keep up their end of a bargain]

What “bargain”?? The only evidence of any “bargain” is this guy’s story. If he can’t produce a written contract or agreement, then, oh well!!

Yes, handshakes in the past were enough to seal a deal, but that practice does not apply in today’s litigious world.

It’s a shame this guy had to learn the lesson the hard way...

He wasn’t dealing with Trump

Who in the campaign was he dealing with? Was it some local guy? or was it even any body with the campaign? How would you know since nothing is written down....not even a name

Let’s say I have little reason to believe anti-Trump “journalism” from the Washington comPost.

We are anxious to assign victimhood to someone filing lawsuits and pleading their case to the comPost. Curious.

Typical crap journalism. Six sentences, and they don’t tell you WHY the suit was launched. Not only are the media biased, they are utterly incompetent.

Would you prefer some other media outlet?

Or would you have to actually have Mr. Trump tell you in person before you would believe it?

The examiner piece was a re-write of what was in the Post. At least the Fox article had primary source info. That material indicated some allegations against a fellow named George who manages the appearances for the campaign.

I am still not convinced this guy is a victim.

The Townhall link didn’t work for me.

What do you mean? Trumpicide? Trump should just ignore them. The dad appears to be a scheming control freak.

No, I just mean the guy could’ve continued to pursue the relationship without filing suit...or use other means to gain the already stupendous publicity his “act” got by being at the Trump rally.

I spend lots of time in Florida, and never heard of these girls until the Trump rally.

Trump fans might have bought his stuff, but now that he has filed a lawsuit (or is talking about it), what are the chances the crowds that went to Trump rallies will offer him their money.

I didn’t mean to imply Trump would whack him. Goodness.
