RALEIGH The US Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday overturned the 2013 elections law case that included the voter ID provision.
The three-judge panel found that the law was adopted with discriminatory intent.
The ruling prohibits North Carolina from requiring photo identification from voters in future elections, including the November 2016 general election, restores a week of early voting and preregistration for 16- and 17-year-olds, and ensures that same-day registration and out-of-precinct voting will remain in effect.
Challengers of the elections law overhaul shepherded through the Republican-led General Assembly in 2013 and signed into law by Gov. Pat McCrory quickly lauded the ruling.
With surgical precision, North Carolina tried to eliminate voting practices disproportionately used by African-Americans. This ruling is a stinging rebuke of the states attempt to undermine African-American voter participation, which had surged over the last decade, said Dale Ho, director of the ACLUs Voting Rights Project. It is a major victory for North Carolina voters and for voting rights.
This is a developing story. Check for updates.
It was clear this law intended to discriminate against people who had no right to vote to begin with.
Oh wait ...

One thing we can all do now, and every morning -is call in to C-span and if it's busy, keep trying. When you get through and your name and/or city is called out - mention freerepublic.com and say some good words about Trump and why he's the best choice. From 1999-2001 I was constantly calling C-span and after redialing a couple times, I was easily able to get through dozens of times in those two years.
And unlike back in those early days, there are now no long distance charges. You can call while having coffee, while sitting in your backyard, while watching tv, while walking down the sidewalk, etc.
If enough fr members call Cspan in the mornings, many of us should easily be able to get through.
And like Travis has stated "...we have to do what we can --------while we can!" :)
They will do as many states as they need to steal the election.
You hit the nail on the head
Federal judges have lifetime appointments, but I share your feelings. Trump is going to have a hard time in getting the bureaucracy to shift direction .
You need an ID to apply for food stamps.
Who were the 3 judge panel?
They make no pretenses anymore.
Tyranny.
Larry, Curly and Moe.

Don’t count that out!..Brexit wasn’t suppose to happen either....
.....the weather was REALLY bad in London
An appeals court protecting the RAT party’s right to cheat? Who’d a thunk it? < /sarc >
this is bs!
C’mon, McCrory,,,,Appeal it!
What the heck to 16 and 17yr olds have any business doing in the voting process anyway.
Gov. McCrory should appeal to the en banc of the 4th circuit.
And he should announce that the law will be followed for November, regardless of any restraining orders approved by a single Federal judge.
The judges can rule, and let them figure out how to enforce their ruling.
States have no rights these days, don’t kid yourself.
Abortion as well... clearly, from the git-go, the Sanger-abortion paradigm is built on "discriminatory intent".
If photo id has been sanctioned by the USSC why can’t NC pass a new law mNdating photo ID?
Do it anyway. How are they going to enforce it?
This is a Globalist move trying to steal the election for Hillary.
Rush is on this now.
