I’m betting the MSM won’t tie a single problem resulting from this to Obama or the government.

Yesterday, my daughter who will be seven next month, passed her swimming examine to move into the next group.

The requirement for many similar swimming places is 25 meters but this group only advances on 50 meters. She swam 168 meters and only stopped because she had to pee.

She got a medal on a nice neck ribbon, a certificate and a seahorse patch for her swimsuit.

She says and does amazing things.

There's been terrible rains on the US East Coast in recent days. In fact, the rain in New Jersey is so bad I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the PGA Championship at the Baltusrol Golf Club near New York City.

all this flooding occured in the lower part of Ellicott

City, Md—all the water flowing downhill is from The Tiber

River in town as the town is built on a hill & near the B&O

reIN station directly adjacent to the Patapsco River which

has also overflowed it’s banks.

Actually this is really nothing-it’s just a minor flood.

Hurricane Agnes is what did the town in back in the day

and there were almost TWO STORIES of flood water.

Here’s a daytime clip of a flood from 2011

& here’s something from Hurricane Agnes 1972

It seems that the “old town” – the main street of the historic district of Ellicott City got the worst of it although there was also flooding in other areas including in north Baltimore City along the Jones Falls.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/severe-damage-after-flooding-maryland-n620416

I’ve been to and have enjoyed going to the old town Ellicott City district many times over the years.

It is a great place to visit and hang out for the day. Lots of small specialty shops of all kinds - unique clothing, jewelry, crafts and arts and gift stores, and many antiques shops; all small independently owned small businesses and also some really good places to eat, to meet friends for a good meal and some brew. And many of the building go back to the 1700’s in what was once a very prosperous and inportant mill town. There is also the B&O Railroad Museum's Ellicott City Station.

http://www.destinationmainstreets.com/maryland/ellicott-city.php

But it is also in an area because of its topography and being in a river basin, that has been very prone to flooding the in past.

FWIW Ellicott City got more than 6” of rain over a very short period of time.

Imagine if Bush was still president. The MSM would be laying this at his feet. The rains would be all his fault.

What a very stupid thing to say.

This morning they are reporting that 1 person is dead and 16 people are missing in and around the Ellicott City area in Howard County, MD.

The next time something bad happens in your home state of Washington - a wild fire, an earthquake, a flood, a tsunami, I will remember well that you said - that that turds float.

But I would never wish ill on your neighbors in Washington State but I might make an exception for you.

Actually this is really nothing-it’s just a minor flood.

I beg to differ. While Agnes and TS Lee caused historic flooding over a wide spread area, this was a very localized but intense flood – 6 ½ inches of rain fell in about 2 hours over a small area. The damage to old town Ellicott City is tremendous. The flood waters came down Main Street so furiously that some of the buildings’ foundations have been compromised and many roads in the area completely torn up.

So yes “minor” in terms of area and number of people effected but not minor for those who are.

when I said it was “it’s just a minor flood” I was diminuizing the flood in humour.

Looks like Ellicott City MD will need MASSIVE amounts of federal monies to repair unless these shop owners have flood insurance which I think pretty much it’s a requirement to open up a biz there now.

You really need me to point out the connection between flooding and knowing how to swim?
