Mainstreaming is the most restrictive environment for many of these children who require substantial 1 on 1 throughout the day. State run programs are incapable of providing the level of support needed by severely involved autistic children. They wan to keep the children in their program because it is lucrative. They are not, however, providing a level of service sufficient to meet the child’s needs.
