And what law exactly was broken?
IIRC, body armor is perfectly legal, and open carry is permitted in Kentucky. Have we come to this? that an American citizen cannot ride around in his own private vehicle wearing body armor? Or is this just police harassment for “Driving While Prepped”? :)

I wonder if body armor would make you safer in a vehicle in the event of a crash? Motorcyclists have basically armored jackets, pants, and helmets that offer them additional protection (notably spinal protection). AFAIK racing drivers wear flame proof suits and helmets but nothing particularly "armored."

Hey, there's a business opportunity... Sell motorcycle-like body armor to the smart-car and small lightweight electric car market. You know those vehicles and airbags can only protect you just so much. Urban driving speeds probably aren't high enough to make it an issue. But for suburban drivers and commuters - a little extra protection???
