Priebus, Giuliani, Gingrich plot Trump 'intervention': report
The Hill ^ | August 3, 2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Top Republicans and political allies to Donald Trump are planning an "intervention" with the candidate following a disastrous two days and political firestorm encircling the Republican presidential nominee, according to a report Wednesday.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Reince Priebus, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Speaker Newt Gingrich are among those looking to talk with the businessman, NBC News reports.

The group hopes to enlist Trump's children, who have proven pivotal in advising the businessman's candidacy, in their effort to get Trump back on track after days of feuding on Trump's part that even his closest political allies like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has found inappropriate.

Trump insisted in a tweet early Wednesday that there is "great unity" in his campaign despite reports of internal campaign strife following an onslaught of negative attention.

The real estate tycoon feuded with the parents of a slain American Muslim soldiers killed in Iraq whose father spoke at last week's Democratic convention, then caught flak over his answers in an interview on Russia's moves in Europe.

Trump told The Washington Post on Tuesday he wasn't ready to back Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their primary races, despite them endorsing his candidacy, and he also swiped at Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.).

Trump Allies Plot Candidate Intervention After Disastrous 48 Hours
by CHUCK TODD and HALLIE JACKSON

Key Republicans close to Donald Trump’s orbit are plotting an intervention with the candidate after a disastrous 48 hours led some influential voices in the party to question whether Trump can stay at the top of the Republican ticket without catastrophic consequences for his campaign and the GOP at large.

Republican National Committee head Reince Priebus, former Republican New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are among the Trump endorsers hoping to talk the real estate mogul into a dramatic reset of his campaign in the coming days, sources tell NBC News.

The group of GOP heavyweights hopes to enlist the help of Trump’s children - who comprise much of his innermost circle of influential advisers - to aid in the attempt to rescue his candidacy. Trump’s family is considered to have by far the most influence over the candidate’s thinking at what could be a make-or-break moment for his campaign.

The idea is in its early stages, and there’s no guarantee that Trump’s team would entertain a conversation requiring such comprehensive changes for a candidate who has resisted calls to moderate his tone or reel in his most outlandish political positions.

The Hill.

Always trying to help us by framing the issues the way the left likes.......

I doubt this is the language of any of those advisers mentioned.

What Trump should do is endorse strongly Paul Ryan’s challenger but promise to support Ryan if he wins his primary. Same with McCain. :-)

Beck was just hoping for Trump to drop out and maybe pull Cruz back in. If not he said Mittens would be a better choice even if he disagrees with some of his policies, at least Mitt is honest.

God has apparently given many over to delusion.

Chuck Todd writes scripts with, and for, the DNC and Obama,
and it shows in the slimy sweat which oozes
from his face as he pouts lie upon lie.

PR-rep Todd is a pseudo-journalist who works tirelessly
to sell (SELL) out his own country and profession.

Good. Somebody needs to get Trump of this stupid side issue with muzzie Gold Star parents.

He needs to focus on the issues, get back on message and bring it to Hillary.

I seriously believe Trump is ADHD. He is so easily distracted for the task at hand.

( Why don’t you turn your fire on the real enemies—the MSMS and the Dems?)

It’s becoming more and more clear that the GOP want to trow this election to Hillary. If they didn’t, Reince et al would in front of all this and denying it.

Trump supporters are the invisible struggling middle class. The elites think Trump is crazy/inept because they do not see his appeal. Trump does not appeal to elites. But elites being elites think that translate to no appeal at all. That couldn’t be further form the truth.

Nope—there have to be insider/turncoat publicity-seeking/reputation-defending blabber mouths to get this in the press.
