Republicans plotting a Donald Trump 'intervention' to rescue stumbling campaign

Worried Republican leaders are plotting an "intervention" with presidential candidate Donald Trump in a desperate bid to get his careening campaign back on track.

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, Republican National Committee head Reince Priebus, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are among Trump supporters reportedly hoping to talk some sense into him before he blows the election and brings the party down with him.

They hope to enlist the aid of Trump's children who are believed to have the biggest pull with their dad, reports NBC News.

Your problem is that the story has been posted repeatedly ever since yesterday and merely regurgitated through the MSM. Secondly, the posters comments belie his /her true intent. Fair basis to call a Troll.

I'm not the one with the problem. Not everybody sees every post or article. As far as I'm concerned, if a story is published by different MSM sources, it is legitimate to post them, if only to demonstrate how widespread the misinformation is.

If you have a problem with a poster, then report an abuse to the moderator. Otherwise, the decent thing to do is to point out that the story has been debunked, trash the MSM if you want to, but for God's sake lets not be attacking each other.

I have been absolutely appalled this election season by the name-calling.

I have been here since 1998, and I myself have been called a troll -- which I am demonstrably not, as is evident from the more than 700 threads and more than 22,000 responses I have posted during my tenure.

The people who think that Trump needs an intervention are people who will never ever vote for him and who want him to LOSE! Why on earth would he listen to them? The media is really overplaying their hand this time - Dukakis was up 17 points at the same time (or something like that!)

Well get ‘appalled’ more because not only will the motives of a number of posters be questioned legitimately and their motives directly impugned you are very naive to suggest that concurrently with some of these posts they shouldn’t be impugned themselves . That to me reaks of a certain attempt to stop calling out these people trying to create a cluster #### on this site. Now if YOU don’t like the personal calling out then I would suggest YOU press the mod button. The offence works both ways.

I agree with that, and specifically do in this case. I also agree with Maceman that there is a downside risk to calling people out, and doing so should be undertaken judiciously.

In this case, TangledUpInBlue did more than mere repetition of a debunked news story. He agreed with it, he opined that Trump needs an intervention. Well, that sort of sentiment, unless explained, is going to result in some attacks. And FR, being what it is, sometimes the attacks are warranted, sometimes not, usually poorly expressed, occasionally well expressed, and so on.

I think a more rough and tumble environment is beneficial. Pressure and challenge are healthy. They push people toward composition of reasoned defense. Not that the result always comes out right, I see much error and misinformation here; and even enmity where it isn't justified.

Just tossing in my opinion as a bystander, not looking for discussion.

No one wants war, but no one wants to be crushed under the boot heel of totalitarianism, either.

Every day our enemies get stronger of consolidate their power.

Every day our side gets weaker, older, and more apathetic.

I say let’s fight now so that our children can live free.

The Hillary tie speech yesterday was a manufacturer. There were apparently 20 or so people. 10 of them were ‘immigrants.’

Maybe she’s paying people to come now, like she pays internet posters.

I don’t disagree with what you’ve said, but should Trump still be talking about Cruz’s Father/Kennedy link like he did the other day? Megan Kelly’s period?

HAMMER HILLARY.

“Megan Kelly’s period?”

He didn’t. The media interpreted it that way.

I saw Trump’s explanation, but I think it’s simpler. He doesn’t see Me-aGyn as a sex object. At all. Her demeanor isn’t his type. I also think he really does love Melania. That demeanor is his type. Me-aGyn doesn’t fit the mold.

So he was talking about her ears, nose, and mouth.

Are you referring to what he says at rallies? Do you have a link to support your assertion that Trump brought up Cruz's Father/Kennedy link "the other day"? And even assuming he did, I notice that this particular subject is not on the press agenda since, oh, I guess since Cruz dropped out. Smae details as to mention of Kelly's blood coming out of wherever.

You get one chance to change my impression of you, and this is it.

It’s laughable that in reality he’s probably way ahead of Hellery, but the press wants to paint the picture of disorder and hopelessness.

Not buying it for a second....

Intervention with Donald Trump

sounds like a new series for the History Channel, complete with ancient alien astronauts.

I've been thinking this for a while now.

As I just got through saying to another tool:

Thanks for another Tokyo Rose moment - useful tools will be useful tools and we gots plenty of them on FR. Here's an interesting info-byte - it appears that most of the Tokyo Rose folks either do not donate to FR (or they are all just too shy to let folks know they do donate) and likely do not donate to a candidate. If you don't already donate to FR and/or a candidate, I would strongly urge you to do so - it might add a bit of relevance to the crap that so many keep spouting - I personally think they are lying their asses off when they say they support conservatism/putting honesty and integrity back in D.C/stopping Hillary. You can find Hillary's site to make your donation to her yourself - here is a link to Donate to FR should you have a lucid moment.

Just sent Newt a message related to that and other topics.

8 4 2016

Newt, Love ya’, man. Those of us who support Trump are pleased that you have been vocal in YOUR support for him.

You may recall that I served as a panelist at your 1990 debate with David Worley. You were kind enough to remark that I would make a formidable candidate if I were to run for office. I was so flattered by your comment that I posted the audio to YouTube here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIo8FJJMps8.

I did briefly toy with the idea but laid down until the sensation went away.

I’m writing to ask if you can help me understand your recent comment surrounding Trump’s failure — so far — to endorse PAUL RYAN’s re-election. During your remarks, you stated that Ryan was a “problem solver” and one of the best Speakers we have had.

My question: So far as many of us out here in Flyover Country can tell, with SOME few exceptions, the only problems Ryan has solved were those of the arrogant and dangerous Marxist gaggle currently infesting the White House and the radical fellow travelers (mostly muslim and/or muslim sympathizers and enablers) he has installed in critical national security related positions in an “administration” that looks for all the world more like an intentional series of Reischstag Fires.

Awaiting your reply in hopes you can give us out here among the “great unwashed” reasons why we should stop referring to Paul Ryan as “Vidkun Quisling”.

Regards,
DB
PS: Next time you speak to The Donald, please urge him to stay on message, keep hammering the serial felon opposing him and to leave the hatchet jobs and dirty work to others.
