Russian diplomat shoots dead armed mugger in Rio

The Russian vice-consul in Rio de Janeiro shot dead an armed would-be mugger who attempted to hold him up in his car near the Olympic Park. Marcos Cesar Feres Braga, a Brazilian lawyer who holds the vice-consul post at the Russian consulate, reportedly grabbed the attacker, who was on a motorbike, and pulled him into his BMW X6 after the man pointed a gun at him and smashed the car window. A struggle followed, during which the diplomat grabbed the mugger’s gun and shot him dead. The local media outlet Globo reports that Mr Braga is well-trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and was travelling in the car with his family.
