There was the hurricane Sandy storm on Oct 22, 2012 and its aftermath that seemed to have helped Obama (and Chris Christie not being very helpful to Romney hugging and praising Obama after the storm). The polls in the chart there say last 21 days, so some of them would have missed that effect and overestimated Romney’s position even had their sampling methods been perfect.
