Because, any day now!.
Me: Mom, why not install a wood burning insert. If you have an ice storm you wont have any way to even cook food. Mom: Ill be raptured, Ill never have to worry about that!
Hilarious story...
Though Mom *does* have a point about "any day now," life does and WILL go on; She must understand that we are commanded to prepare to live life and cherish it without believing that any second could be "it."
According to my mom, if you don’t believe ‘any day now’ literally you probably aren’t saved.
I have a couple weeks of food in my pantry (in case of illness, we live in the sticks, and bad weather preventing timely food replenishing are my excuses). My salvation is dodgy.
She’s not kidding either.
I have a cousin who literally cut down every single food producing plant in their yard and keeps NO food in their house overnight. Mom’s a teensy bit more reasonable than that. Teeny bit.
There are a LOT of Christians who have been deceived into conceeding this country to the globalists over the past 50 years with the ‘any day now’ doctrine.
Pre-trib doctrine has had my mother spend her entire adult years almost literally sitting on her front porch in a chair looking east. She very nearly convinced me to do the same. ‘It’s wonderful, the Lord is coming! You’ll never grow up, you’ll never get old, you’ll never have to worry about getting married or going to college!’. She told me those exact words when I was 10. I’m a half a century now. Good thing I disobeyed my mom. I’d be the weird old spinster living in the room of her youth waiting...and waiting...and waiting...
