I suppose it is so ridiculously sophomoric that liberals would roll their eyes at it and piously intone that it was just so much scribbling by a young boy trying to find his way.

Pretty much what that guy (Frank Marafiote) said in HIS analysis of her thesis...she was a girl of her times...trying to find her way, etc.

Perfect, reading it now...ugh.

I forced myself to read “Rules for Radicals” and both of Obama’s putrid books, so this can’t be much worse on me, though I hope it will be educational.

Already, it is.

You know when you see phrases like “ideological Weltanschauung” and “neo-Hobbesian, you are going to get an extremely pretentious exposition on SOMETHING.

I love how she and Alinsky both compare him favorably (actually in terms of being equals) with Thomas Jefferson, Sam Adams, Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine. (Paine was flawed enough, but I give him a pass on a lot of criticism because of what he did for the embryonic country at a time when it was desperately needed. I think he deserves that.) I feel comfortable in saying, those men of revolutionary America would be repulsed by a scumbag like Alinsky. Those men believed in many things, but they did not believe in them at any cost, particularly at the cost of their own honor and principles. They believed in those and fought tooth and nail against every sacrifice that might be asked of their “sacred honor”.

Alinksy and his devotees, scum that they are, have no such anchor in anything approaching principles or sacred honor those men held. Their God is Power and Domination of others, and any means, any at all, with no holds barred, is their path. They will say anything on one day, and on the next, if it is required, will say the polar opposite, no matter the lie, the cost, the sacrifice of principles, their God, or the lives or reputations of others. Their modus operandi is total relativism, and the ends will justify ANY means, any at all.

Those honorable men would despise and ridicule someone like Alinsky. Typical of people like Alinsky to appropriate symbols that are important to people they want to rule over, and try to corrupt and crap on them to destroy the frameworks.

That is, after all, what “Rules for Radicals” is all about. Destroy the sea that your opponents live in. Pollute it to the point they have to abandon it. How I despise and detest that man, and all of his acolytes.

I read this line in her “thesis”: “One of the strongest strains in modern radicalism is the eighteenth century Enlightenment’s faith in human reason and the possible perfectibility of man.”

That is the fundamental flaw with liberalism. There is no such thing as the “possible perfectibility of man”.

They have built an entire flawed ideology and dogma on top of a flawed foundation such as this fallacy, and someday, we as conservatives, will take the correct approach of attacking this fundamental fallacy in the foundation of their abortion of a castle, rather than picking away ineffectually at their walls and turrets, which they rather enjoy because they know we won’t beat them at that.

Thanks for trying, and stay safe. Justice will catch up with Reid, even if Obama’s Justice Department doesn’t.

That Moscow trip of Bill’s was briefly a campaign issue in 1992, and then it seemed to slip into our intrepid MSM’s memory hole. But if Hillary and her MSM cronies like Joy Reid want to talk about how “At least I’m not on Team Putin”, we can go there.

It was sophomoric alright. But he's still pursuing the anti-nuclear policy he outlined there.

ROFL! Yes, I found myself waiting for her to start talking about Herbert Marcuse or something when I got a few pages in.

I agree with your strategic prescription to attack the root rather than the branches.

Transactional Analysis Psychology was popularized in the 70s and it popularity was especially notable among recovering lefties.

The concept of games accurately describes a lot of what happens in our society. The description can be taken literally or metaphorically.

Games come in several forms. In one form of game the players never change position. Examples of this are
AINT IT AWFUL
LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO
POOR ME

In another form of game, the players do change position.
LETS PLAY A FAST ONE ON JOEY
LETS YOU AND HIM FIGHT

Alinsky can be summed up as moving people from games where people do not change position to games where people do change position.

People do not need to play games. TA preaches there is intimacy beyond games. Others say casual relationships can exist without games...without seeking an emotional payoff.

What is most interesting is people who play games but claim that they don’t, especially in politics.

Yes, but. In which you tell a person a problem or ask for suggestions and every thing unsay is yes, but (fill in a reason or excuse for not doing that suggestion.) Naive listeners will be dragged along for minutes till they learn to let the person figure it out for themselves.

Great input, boy, did I have a flashback there when I heard “Transactional Analysis”...it reminded me of the jolt I got recently when I was watching the movie “The Last Detail” and I heard them reference “Chanting” (repeatedly saying some thing or phrase over and over again in the hope it will make something you want come true!)

That had been completely lost to memory for me, and it took me right back to the Seventies!

(interestingly enough, that scene in the movie had Gilda Radner in it before she made it big on Saturday Night Live...it might even have been her first big movie, and when I saw her face I said “Hey! Isn’t that...Gilda Radner there?” Rewound, and yes it was!

Radner had made her debut in Godspell a year before that, along with a bunch of other future SNL/SCTV members--speaking of flashbacks!

So if she worked for Goldwater, she was probably a spy.

Her father was a lifelong Republican. She worked for Goldwater in 1964 when she was still in high school. Her youth minister pointed her towards Alinsky—who was good at infiltrating churches—but she didn’t turn radical until after she started college in 1965. She was president of the Young Republicans chapter at her school her freshman year, but by her junior year she was supporting Eugene McCarthy for the 1968 election. 1966-1968 was a turning point for a lot of people due to the expansion of the draft and the increase in antiwar activity, which stepped up significantly in 1967 due to the Spring Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam and National Mobe organizing major protests that April and October.

Great work, Fedora! Bump!

All I can say is that Romney, Ryan, McConnell, McCain, McGrahamnesty, Kasich, Bush, Fiorina, Cruz, Rove, Levin, Beck, Krauthammer, G. Will, Erickson and all other NeverTrumpers need to pull their collective heads out of their butts before it’s too late. Only a traitor would not do everything in their power to keep this corrupt communist bitch from being elected to the presidency.

Send Trump to the White House! Hillary to the Big House!
