aising the minimum wage is one of those wonderful-sounding ideas that, whenever tried, unfortunately never quite works the way it was promised. To its credit, the Washington Post has noticed.
The Post recently highlighted a new study from a group of economists who were commissioned by the city of Seattle to look at that city's minimum wage hike from $9.96 an hour to $11.14 an hour. What they found was enlightening.
To begin with, the economists said, some of the workers weren't helped at all, since their pay would have likely gone up anyway with experience and tenure on the job.
But the city didn't bargain for what happened to other workers it had sought to help: "Although workers were earning more, fewer of them had a job than would have without an increase," the Post said. "Those who did work had fewer hours than they would have without the wage hike."

Endless immigration and a 15 buck an hour minimum wage.
A prescription for mass unemployment.
You know, if you don’t like the terms of employment, get another job. I was MORE than willing to accept the terms as they were.
Increasing the minimum wage also increases automation as robots become a more viable option.
Robots do not pay Social Security taxes.
Social Security relies on present taxpayers to pay retirees.
Fewer present Social Security payers means lower payments.
Increasing the minimum wage will decrease Social Security.
>Every argument for an increase in minimum wage can be defeated by....
Acknowledging the premise of the Left?
No. EVERY discussion w/ a Socialist should begin, “By what Right...?”.
- Whom owns said property to be paid out as ‘wages’?
- Was agreement of employment FOISTED upon the recipient, or willingly negotiated?
- How many employees did YOU hire?
- Why not open your OWN biz and pay the wages YOU wish? Since co-worker X earns less than you, why not ‘donate’ $Y to X?
- In fact, why not use GOVT to do just that FOR you?
Conservative, Free Market Capitalist Solution.
Pay the working poor their entire gross pay including both their and employer share of FICA, Medicare, etc.
At same time eliminate EITC. Make it much more difficult to qualify for SSI, EBT, SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, etc.
A win for the working poor. A win for employers. A win for consumers. A win for the economy.
A disaster for navigators trying to expand dependency.
Great point that is not brought up often enough.
That $15 an hour “floor” turns into a “ceiling”

That’s because liberal morons in general have no concept of a business.
A business requires a PROFIT to make money.
because PROFIT has been vilified by the lib media, then we business owners are a bunch of EEEVIILLLL GREEDY MOFOS. Go figger’
Government will never learn that they cannot help the economy by manipulating it thusly.
It takes a little learning curve to jump into a job and become proficient. With employers finding it too expensive to move new employees through that learning curve, they are depending on people with experience. That does not bode well for our children who we need to get out of the house and become self-sufficient. It does not bode well for the parents who have to support them.
Seattle is notorious for raising taxes. Recently Seattle enacted a gun violence tax which taxes all firearms and ammunition sales in the city limits of seattle. The NRA is suing the city of Seattle for this tax. I hope the restaurant owners sue the city of Seattle for their $15 minimum wage hike.

You shouldn’t wonder why Obama won twice (and Hillary may succeed him); many people don’t have your options - and they vote.
Well said.
I preached that like you said. The increase of the minimum precipitates increase of all wages and salaries
Then it occurred to me....... the wage rise will cover increased obama care costs
These are paid SEIU goons (look at the professional signs!) who are demanding extra hikes, because their already over-paid a$$es depend on the MW for raises.
Which, in turns means more $ going to democrat politicians via forced donations and advocacy.
The union goons couldn't care less about some guy at Burger King or whether he'll lose his job.
The Goonions only care about themselves.
America or taxpayers be damned.
It's all about the democrat Benjamins.

Yep!
it would be interesting to work the increased tax rate on a minimum wage increase....when a worker receives 25% increase how much does he take home?
In Kroger’s in Houston suburbs last week. BIG SEIU guy had his paperwork spread all over the counter in front of a couple very, very young employees working at the Starbucks outlet there (which I understand is managed by Kroger’s). All I could do to keep my mouth shut. Also noticed a new SEIU sticker on the front window which has not been there before.
Kroger’s puts their stickers all on one window and I always make sure they don’t have a “no firearms or cc allowed” stickers added so I know the SEIU is new.
