(CNN)Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte called the US ambassador to his country a "gay son of a bitch" in a speech, prompting US diplomats to raise the issue with their Filipino counterparts in Washington.

Recounting Secretary of State John Kerry's visit to the country, Duterte, speaking Tagalog, said that he was feuding with US Ambassador Philip Goldberg. "I was with (incoming defense chief General) Delfin Lorenzana. We talked to Kerry, he was actually OK because I had a fight with his ambassador. I told him: 'your ambassador is a gay son of a bitch.'"

He does do that, and much more so.
He also speaks very, very roughly and curses freely, unlike Trump.
He deliberately speaks in the lower class colloquial style.

We (My Filipina wife and I) love Digong a lot and are both anxious to see the world and the American/SE Asia connection ... with President Trump

We listen to a lot of Philippine TV and youtube and I’m always asking my wife, “Why did you chuckle?” and her reply is usually something like that ... just a conversational giggle that’s not stand up comedy ... just a giggly chuckle.

I do not want to make an enemy of you, but I don't believe that statement about death squads.

IMO .. People that "get into" politics (like freepers) too many times find themselves backed up against a wall, painted into a corner, or augmented to an insane asylum because of the sheer madness in the political world ... (dems hold their I hate all banks and wall street convention in the Wells Fargo Center ...) ... and I WILL CONFESS at least ...

If I had a magic wand, all Clintons (f'rinstance) would be disappeared.

And I believe a LOT of people think that way.

Applying words to that fantasy, somehow makes it sound evil, but if we could do it sanitarilly .. ?

The President of the Philippines does not play around. He has ordered an all out war against drugs, specifically drug dealers, Over 300 killed in the last year.

Some countries have actually refused to credential real flamers who have been sent there,

If I recall correctly the Vatican refused to accept three he tried to pawn on them.

Here's the "money" quote:

He also called Kerry "crazy" and suggested that he "offend" him more to get more aid.

"Kerry came here, we had a meal, and he left me and Delfin (Delfin Lorenzana incoming defense chief General) $33 million. I said, OK, maybe we should offend them more, so this crazy will just give more money, just to make peace. So, it's all about the money ."

That is really interesting

The Philippines has so much to go for it but some how seems to bog down when it needs to get things done.

You missed my point.

I was responding to the word "endorse" in your reply.

Because I think, if people honestly and objectively analyze their own thoughts and motivations, they DO .. at least .. desire immediate response/retribution especially of a wrong that could have been made right.

Like ... you catch the rapist that did your daughter and you DON'T turn him over to the police ... maybe never ... maybe not right away ... 'cause YOU got him first.

I think we DO endorse immediate satisfaction in a lot of things ... we just don't like or want to be the one that is the dealer of death.

Consider ... does anyone realistically think a Constitutional convention would actually right a wrong ......... in our lifetime?

Yet, it is a good and legal thing to do ... just takes too long.

Yes, I'll admit that vigilante death squads, fighting for my cause, would be deeply satisfying - in the short run. I would be ecstatic if a group of civilian snipers wiped out an entire BLM thugfest.

But in the long term, where does the violence end? There are cultures that have been at war for hundreds or thousands of years. Cultures built around revenge (Albanians, etc.) I'm no pacifist by any means, and the threat (or delivery) of extra-judicial justice may work on a case by case basis.

You just don't want a permanent state of death-squad culture, like Central America.

"where does the violence end?"

Analyze that question.

Are you talking about a group of people that punch a clock and get paid to kill?

Because THAT'S the only group you "could not stop" .. (where does the violence end?)

THAT element in our thought process short circuits the concept(s) of militia, or minutemen or liberty boys ... NONE of which were nothing more than patriots doing a job, and going home.

We need to start thinking differently as we develop our thoughts and arguments.

I'm 68, dying of emphysema and if it was 2 AM and no one was around and _________ was beside me (use your imagination) ... I think I could take h-- out.

Would it bother me?

I don't know ... I've never been in that position before ... and THEY are relying on us common folk to BE hesitant ... just long enough for them to do this one thing ......... until the next time.

“Earlier in April, Davao City Mayor and Philippine presidential candidate Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte made headlines for a horrifying “joke” he made at a campaign rally.

While referencing a 36-year-old Australian lay minister named Jacqueline Hamill, who was held hostage, raped, had her throat slashed and was shot in 1989, he said, “I was angry because she was raped, that’s one thing. But she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first. What a waste.”

And yes, he was referring to himself.”
