He is a hardcore communist who is now going after the rich.
Pray America wakes
read the whole thing. I should add that the MSM here is up in arms, as are the elite politicians, but he is very popular among the locals>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sounds like Duarte is from Texas.
The Filipinos I know here, mostly at church, are enamored of Duterte.
My sister in law was very enthusiastic for Duarte, and I was less enthusiastic because of his self expressed socialism. But he is a fresh face in Philippine politics. And I hope the Islands keep getting stronger in Asian market share of business. I prefer to buy things made in the Philippines and South Korea as they ARE democracies.
All my expat friends are in Davao City or Cebu and The Davao guys are completely happy with what's going on.
Cebu is silent, and our relatives in Cavite are equally happy with Digong, but your posts of news accounts are valuable to me ... again ... thanx.
The Philippines are dependent on the USA for military aid.
There are a LOT of simularities and comparisons with our own Donald trump and I am SO excited to see Feb 1, 2017.
(give him time to get a bunch of EO's out of the way and write a few of his own)

Kinda hard to make a difference without going after the rich. The problem, as the Jacobins found, is figuring out which rich. Traitors shouldn’t be shielded by their wealth, but neither should an innocent person be killed simply for being successful.
Unfortunately, any recipe for reform that includes Communism is a deadly mix. As Mao proved, people are more than willing to build the scaffolds for their own hanging.
The Greeks once thought the world rested on the back of Atlas, but today it rests on a stack of trinitrotoluene with a very short fuse.
I am in Davao City as we speak. I can assure you, the people of Davao City like him. I have been to the Hall of Justice, and have seen the hallways stacked almost to the ceiling with court cases. I wonder how they manage to get anything done, but the common people were about fed up with their justice system. I think he was so popular in Davao City, because he got stuff done, and cleaned the place up.
Duterte is against criminality, drugs and corruption ... not idealogues.
I went to Lady Doc's source and printed it out from the source (strategypage) ... a very good read.
He named a real estate developer as an enemy yesterday who was going to develop his own property with Log Cabins and owns some large properties in Manila. Seems like a random prosecution other than he had ties to Marcos.
You would know better than I.
Some of his pronouncements appear rather off-center, but there are many reasons for that. I have heard much talk of his leftist tendencies and would hate to see the Philippines head down that path.
I think the Philippines have chosen wisely (remember, Duterte was a mayor for 20 some years and did not want to be president ... but the people drafted him and he ran an inexpensive, simplistic campaign and won with the largest margin of popular votes ever in the Philippines!)
We have Trump, THEY have Duterte and the two will meet in the future.
The Philippines depends on and we are sworn to ,,, defend them militarily and China is threatening them right now.
The planet is out of time and needs IMMEDIATE and drastic remedy to insane politicians.
I suspect he is smart enough not to antagonize the political families or attempt to do anything about the political corruption, if not he probably will not finish his term...
Minor adjustment -
Duterte IS from a Visayan political family. An old prominent family of Cebu, they are mixed up with the Duranos (another prominent political family) of Cebu, and have been mayors and government officials for generations.
They aren’t one of the major families, on a national scale, but certainly are in their region.
I am of the same mindset, except I abandoned party politics during GW’s reign. Populism is no panacea, and running a successful city or business is no guarantee of success as president. I’m not disparaging Trump or Duterte, I just don’t see the danger receding.
If anything, it’s going to get worse. The old NWO tyrants aren’t giving up; I’m afraid they’re just getting started. The world teeters on the precipice of war, and most people are completely unaware of the nature of this fight. It’s truly a spiritual battle of biblical proportions and consequences.
