Best wishes to your friends. It’s a heroic thing to do.

What were the older boys doing? Why was only the 7 year old looking to get money for food? There is much more we aren’t being told.
This story is nearly identical to the story that appeared in the local paper; I don’t watch the local news so I don’t know if it was covered there or not. I haven’t seen it ‘fleshed out’ locally at all. Very poor coverage, including the bs that Franklin is a Cincinnati suburb. It’s forty miles away. It is a Dayton suburb.

That is the problem. The parents use the welfare money to buy drugs with. Instead of locking the parents up, at least at night, and letting them out during the day to sweep streets or something like that, the Governments gives the parents more money, or at least things that can be traded for cash. The children continue to suffer. And the taxpayer continues to get screwed. A Democrat’s wet dream.

No one mentions how many grandparents adopt their own grandchildren today. Messed up irresponsible children, who were raised right, make bad choices in men, and end up with children they have no idea how to raise. Friend just adopted her nephew, been fighting to do so for a couple of years, rotten druggie brother had custody.

During the height of the crack epidemic, I recall reading about a local boy who was beaten by his mother at the car wash where he earned a little money helping out (too young to work legally).

She beat him and took his money for drugs. It’s possible that a similar scenario played out for the older kids and they gave up on trying to make any money.

Why they didn’t say anything at school, a firehouse, police station, etc., though, is another question.

I agree. The earlier the adoption, the better.
