Why would they have even had 160 liters of hydrogen peroxide in that area? Do it have some use in pool maintenance?

Also...I’d expect that somebody would be testing the water daily, during an event like this.

I call BS on their explanation. Unless they are saying someone sold them peroxide instead of chlorine.

That's about 40 gallons,and they don't say what strength the chemical is, which makes a huge difference.

Over about 80% H2O2 (where H2O is the impurity), it is explosive and extreme mechanical shock or heat can set it off.
