Are you suggesting that you have dollars that would buy more someplace else? I remember reading about some recipients of Social Security living happily in Poland.

I hope you are and remain in good health. I was until March of 2014. Then I developed pneumonia, had a minor heart attack, was given up for dead in the ICU, had a quadruple bypass, and cancer surgery.

Had I been in some other country in March of 2014 I think I would already be gone. I would not expect to find the kind of emergency and diagnostic care I got anywhere else on earth.

If the government stops ss, what do you think they are going to do with Medicare? Do you think they will pay for your ICU care, or cancer care?
I work in a healthcare job. What I see everyday is the hard earned Medicare tax money being given to 20 -50 year olds who have no right to be on Medicare. Medicare has expanded so greatly, that it is going to be bankrupt before we reach 65.
When I see this absolute waste of taxpayer money going to drug abusers and scammers, I have no sympathy for the ss is going broke meme.

My wife has this dream of moving to another country after we both retire. I’ve already had my life extended by the US health system and I suspect I will urgently need a good cath lab at some point in the future.

Living on the beach in Costa Rica just isn’t a long term option for some of us.
