U.S. and coalition troops were forced to allow hundreds of Islamic State commanders, fighters and their families to flee the embattled northern Syrian town of Manbij, fearing any attempt to attack the escaping forces would end in massive civilian casualties.

A convoy of a “hundred to a couple of hundred” individuals associated with the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, left Manbij Friday shortly after the Syrian Defense Forces, the American-backed paramilitary force battling the Islamic State in the country, wrested the city from the terrorist organization’s control, according to Col. Chris Garver, the top U.S. military spokesman in the region.

American intelligence assets detected the convoy leaving the Syrian city late Friday, but opted not to attack since any strike would result in massive civilian casualties, Col. Garver said Tuesday.

.. if they were not surrendering then we are allowed to strafe, bomb, whatever..

How can kids 'surrender', idiot? The YPG agreed to let the families pass through. The US special ops guys who direct air support agreed to let the families pass through. And a bunch of couch commandos on FR wanted the families bombed.

.. spare only the infants who have not yet been taught ..

You weren't there. Experts who were there and had all the facts at hand made the call.

If that disappoints you and the rest of FR's thankfully small keyboard Rambo squad, too bad.

I presume you’re referring to the same “experts” who gave us the Arab Spring.

You seem to disregard reality in your zeal to promote a losing strategy -let's revisit the headline: Coalition troops forced to allow ISIS fighters to flee Syrian battlefield

Human shields ring a bell? What about the sex slaves, were they allowed passage, were they released, and on and on...

.. let's revisit the headline: Coalition troops forced to allow ..

Q: who do you think the 'Coalition troops' are?

A: YPG irregulars with a couple of SF embeds to direct US air strikes and relay intel;

Q: what do you think 'American intelligence assets' are?

A: drones and maybe satellites.

Q: who should be making tactical decisions?

A: the YPG.

Q: who should not be making tactical decisions?

A: some tubby Freeper posting from his La-Z-Boy who couldn't find Manbij on a map.

Let's revisit that headline again: Coalition troops forced to allow ISIS fighters to flee Syrian battlefield

Clearly, the SDF chose to let ISIS fighters escape. while the U.S. was forced to watch it happen.

Why does the U.S. even give a damn about ISIS? BECAUSE they are a threat to America and American interests. YET, Obama wages a proxy ground war? As stated previously, the SDF could give a damn about protecting American interests as they are only concerned with local and finite territories and politics.

Thanks to Obama we are 'leading' from behind and waging war with one hand tied behind our back. Obama's war waged on ISIS is very reminiscent of how the Vietnam war was waged -micromanaged and half assed with cheerleaders like you drinking the government koolaid and promoting the 'we are winning' talking points...

As to your attempted personal attacks; e.g.: "some tubby Freeper posting from his La-Z-Boy who couldn't find Manbij on a map." I was already aware you had no argument; regardless, your repeated need to ineptly prove it
