RNC's Hispanic Media Director Explains Why Hispanics Shouldn't Trust Pandering Hillary

The Republican National Committee is stepping up its efforts to attract Hispanic voters. A new social media campaign called "GOP Hispanics: The Week Ahead" is directed toward the demographic and begins with an important message about national security.

GOP Hispanics: The Week Ahead | Terrorism

RNC Director of Hispanic Communications Helen Aguirre-Ferré spoke with Townhall about the new campaign and why Donald Trump should be a much more attractive candidate to Hispanics than Hillary Clinton.

Clinton's supposed strength of being the "most qualified" candidate is actually her biggest weakness, the RNC director explained.

"To the contrary," Aguirre-Ferré said. "She ignored Boko Haram, she advocated for the policies in Libya that led to the country in a huge vacuum. There’s no question about it that because of that vacuum that’s left in Libya and the continued destabilization of the Middle East. You have the rise of ISIS that President Obama said was a 'jayvee team.' Well it doesn’t look pretty jayvee anymore.”

"Her experience is definitely her weakness," Aguirre-Ferré emphasized. "Had she been a member in the private sector she would’ve been fired long ago."

Yet, while the RNC may successfully convince Hispanics not to vote for Clinton because of her foreign policy failures, convincing them to vote for Trump may be a bigger challenge, considering he began his campaign with that controversial statement about illegal immigrants.

"I don’t like the kind of tone and rhetoric and I don’t agree with the characterization of the initial declaration Mr. Trump had made," Aguirre-Ferré noted.

Yet, the RNC leader said Trump has toned it down since his inaugural speech.

"You see very clearly that in speaking about the importance of the Hispanic community he has changed the tone considerably. I would say to those who can’t support Mr. Trump based on that if you’re offended by what he said, how about being offended by what Hillary Clinton has done?"

Clinton, she explained, has supported a border fence in the past and "now she hides from it."

Furthermore, she’s "flip flopped on just about every issue that has to do with immigration reform.".

"She’s totally flip flopped on returning undocumented minors from Central America just a couple of years ago. Instead of really working for immigration reform in a bipartisan fashion as all major legislation should be, she’s already talking about continuing executive overreach in the White House should she become president. So clearly the Constitution is of no importance to her."

Had Clinton truly wanted to work to solve a problem that is personal to many Hispanics, she would’ve done it long ago.

"She’s certainly not talking about doing it in the future," Aguirre-Ferré said. "When she tells Hispanics, 'I’m going to have immigration reform on my desk in the first 100 days,' no one’s clapping. Everyone knows she’s just pandering."

It's up to Trump and the Republican Party to expose her all-talk-no-action record.

"He’s going to be reaching out and speaking directly to the community," the director explained.

"I think Mr. Trump acknowledges that and he’s going to be having meetings with Hispanic leaders in the near future where he’s going to open up for conversation...One of the things we aim to do is to talk to voters directly, go to where they work and where they live and where they pray and reach out to them directly."

Going forward, the RNC plans to build on the successes of the 2014 elections. In the year leading up to the midterms, the party engaged in a very aggressive grassroots campaign. They are keeping the infrastructure in place and one advantage this go around is that the Hispanic community is younger than it was before. The average age is 19-20 years old and increasingly bilingual, according to Pew, meaning GOP activists are able to have greater community outreach and provide information in both English and Spanish.

Aguirre-Ferré said she's really hopeful about this November.

"There’s a good number of Hispanics who still remain undecided and are persuadable," she explained. "They don’t like or trust Hillary Clinton."

"They’re open to being persuaded," she added. "At the end of the day, Hispanics want their families to be safe and happy and able to share on a level playing field the prosperity that others are enjoying."

If this gal was smart, and I mean really smart, she would tell Hispanics to vote for Hillary, because Hillary is ready to promise them anything in her quest to promote their interests over Blacks.

I ran into a Puerto Rican (self proclaimed Hispanic) as I was shopping at Home Depot yesterday. We briefly started talking politics after everything he was trying to sell me was made in China. He made the statement to me that started our encounter "remember when things were made in America?", so I told him that I was hoping this would turn around when Trump gets elected.

He told me that Trump would not be elected, I asked him why he thought that?...he said he insults too many people and groups. I again asked him, who has he offended? He replied, Hispanics (because of the Wall) to which I am one. I asked him if he was illegally here in America, if he was a criminal, drug cartel member or a member of a terrorist organization?...He promptly relied No!...I then asked him why he was offended then?...he really could not answer, so I asked him if he supported any of the following types of people?...he said of course not but he felt that Trump was not saying it right. I told him that Trump was really not a politician and didn't really know how to lie on a national scale to make people feel better.

Lastly, he brought up the Pulse nightclub (since we are close to Orlando) and the only thing I could tell him is how I didn't understand how the LBGT(sp? - who knows they keep adding letters) community could continue to support Democrats whose very policies made what happened there a possibility. Then to have the killers Dad behind Hillary during her campaign stop here...all I could tell him was it seems like a lot of people are like sheep being led top the slaughter.

I'm not sure about the PR Hispanic vote, this guy seemed to be drinking the coolaid

Sounds like she is criticizing Hillary for supporting a fence and other checks on illegal immigration in the past. Typical GOPe flack. But at least she’s aiming a little more at Hillary than Trump in her perspective.

This is a very imprecise and mixed up message this woman is giving. Very poor messaging.

“...Yet, while the RNC may successfully convince Hispanics not to vote for Clinton because of her foreign policy failures, convincing them to vote for Trump may be a bigger challenge, considering he began his campaign with that controversial statement about illegal immigrants.

“I don’t like the kind of tone and rhetoric and I don’t agree with the characterization of the initial declaration Mr. Trump had made,” Aguirre-Ferré noted.

Trump needs this? There is a very sharp division between illegal and legal immigrants and that is in the minds of Hispanics. If you mush them together, you enter a game Republicans will NEVER win. Poor messaging. And Hispanics, at the risk of sounding raciss’ or something, do not give the slightest crap about foreign policy.

Yet, the RNC leader said Trump has toned it down since his inaugural speech.

Oh, that was then and this is now but Trump is no flip flopper. Goofy. Idiotic, sends a blurred self-contradictory message.

“You see very clearly that in speaking about the importance of the Hispanic community he has changed the tone considerably. I would say to those who can’t support Mr. Trump based on that if you’re offended by what he said, how about being offended by what Hillary Clinton has done?”

This is just goofy, goofy communication.

Clinton, she explained, has supported a border fence in the past and “now she hides from it.”

Furthermore, she’s “flip flopped on just about every issue that has to do with immigration reform.”.

“She’s totally flip flopped on returning undocumented minors from Central America just a couple of years ago. Instead of really working for immigration reform in a bipartisan fashion as all major legislation should be, she’s already talking about continuing executive overreach in the White House should she become president. So clearly the Constitution is of no importance to her.”

It’s up to Trump and the Republican Party to expose her all-talk-no-action record.....”

This is just terrible messaging. Incredibly poor. There is no appeal to the idea that we welcome immigrants who wish to become part of the American experience. The idea that you want to create an image in someone’s mind that Hillary did this, now Donald Trump wants this, so when Hillary says she doesn’t want this but Donald still does, that you now know that HRC is a flip flopper.....this is just stupid, poorly planned out communication. This kind of four-way transverse interchange of equivalences and temporal equivalences is not the way you get an idea into somebodys mind.

The larger the crowd the less the IQ!

While I'm at it, these polls that have Hillary up by double digits in key states...I'm a bit confused (not really) as to how somebody (so called Independents) all of a sudden switch to Hillary?...this sounds like a con job so when 1 vote gets you five in Philly, you have no basis for your argument. I'm sorry but I just ain't buying it...

Because America does not require lawful entry and assimilation Hispanics will not run to Trump. They do not learn to understand America and its founding in their own ghettos pressing 2 for Spanish.

Loved your comment! That’s what I say he doesn’t lie with a smile on his face just to appease people he tells it like it is. Unfortunately the media has been told by Washington politicians to stop Trump at all costs. She’s been in government for how long? The Obama’s said she wasn’t fit to run the White House in 2008. The only thing that has changed since then is she’s gotten worse. Their not for any Americans their for themselves and their new world order crap.

I LOVE the fact that Trump is neither conceding the Hispanic vote nor the Black vote: he made an AWESOME policy speech yesterday regarding his philosophy for fixing the inner cities!
