If they have evidence that the individuals filed a false report, this is a perfectly legitimate action.

I do not know either way, however...

Having been to Brasil it's easy to believe a young man and friends might be tempted to visit an "inferno" and lose most of their possessions to the prostitutes working there. That or having brought some new "admirers" back to the dorms, suddenly realizing that their pants were not the only thing they lost.

"E Brasil..." and this is just part of the territory.

I am not sure who is right and who is wrong. Knowing Brasil, and knowing that their police have also participated in the mass extermination of the homeless population that I personally witnessed the aftermath of, it's also very easy to believe the athlete's story.

The security scan reports will be telltale. It would serve the truth if they simply testify and get this over with.

Yes,that's true...I was approached several times by hookers during both of my visits there. However,my experiences (too long to describe here) also indicate that it's *very* possible that they were,in fact, robbed at gunpoint. These accusations could just be a face saving scheme by a Forth World,"I'll Do Anything For A Dollar" politician or prosecutor.

My money's on armed robbery here.
