Ryan Lochte, James Feigen Indicted by Brazil Authorities For Falsely Reporting a Crime

US swimmers Ryan Lochte and James Feigen were indicted by Rio de Janeiro authorities on charges of making a false police report, ABC News reported Thursday.

Brazilian police said earlier Thursday that the famous swimmer and his U.S. teammates were not robbed after a night of partying, and that the intoxicated athletes instead vandalized a gas station bathroom and were questioned by armed guards before they paid for the damage and left.

The robbery that was or wasn’t has become the biggest spectacle outside of the Olympic venues in Rio, and given American Olympians a black eye in Brazil after an otherwise remarkable run at the Summer Games. The ordeal was also a blow to Brazilians, who for months endured scrutiny about whether a city that has long had problems with violence would be able to keep athletes and tourists safe.

“No robbery was committed against these athletes. They were not victims of the crimes they claimed,” Civil Police Chief Fernando Veloso said during an afternoon news conference.

The swimmers could potentially face punishment — probation, suspension, a fine or expulsion — under USA Swimming’s code of conduct, which prohibits dishonesty or fraud. It was not immediately clear if the organization planned to act.

Well, they could go into politics ... if they could find a political party that tolerates liars.

Two people drew guns on them and other Olympians reported being robbed since this drunken mess.
Between the crime, water, corruption and filth I do not think people are going to go to Brazil for any vacations.

Will they be extradited?

Or if they travel to another country, maybe extradited from there?

Hey, complaining about the water has consequences!

I had the same reaction, sounds like Lochte and his bros were being shaken down for cash over a ‘broken’ mirror in the bathroom according to Harvey Levin on Fox with Greta...

Interesting, plus you can read around the internet these things have happened to many tourists that have visited Brazil. I don't trust Brazil authorities in this at all. How the heck did that third world crap hole get the Olympics in the first place.

Ryan just made himself a bunch of enemies he didn’t need.
Brazil welcomes this chance for righteous indignation, as a way of regaining some of their lost dignity after hosting an Olympics and not being fully ready. Suddenly, they are no longer the biggest louse in the world, Ryan Lotche is, so they would have you believe. Advice to Ryan; Apologize for any misunderstanding, and shut up about it from this day forward.

SHAME ON THEM. Absolutely inexcusable. The idiot Lochte lost millions of endorsement contracts. I’m ashamed they represented us.

Well I don’t think the Gators are going to be honoring Lochte at halftime of any games soon.
