The series of unflattering and damning E-mails released just before the 2016 Democratic National Convention, were hacked from a Democratic National Committee (DNC) server. A few weeks later, a hack of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) was released, containing personal contact information. Both incidents were widely blamed on hacking by Russians, particularly alluding to Russian intelligence. Considering the reasons for such hacking and the proclivities of Democrats, it makes little sense for the Russian government to engage in or sponsor these hacking incidents. So who hacked and why, and why the attempt to blame it on Russians?
There are multiple reasons to hack, but they generally fall into two categories. The first is to impede operations, either by hindering the function of information systems or causing loss of trust in their use. The second is to steal information, for which there can be many subsequent uses. In terms of politics and the affairs of nations, blackmail or extortion of the corrupt into committing acts of treason is an ancient ploy. Just as ancient is the use of stolen information to harm the character and effectiveness of a political adversary.

The dems can't dispute the damning content of the emails, so they divert attention (falsely) to the russians, and the weak minded slobbering fools that vote for them swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
There’s every reason for the Russkies to hack the emails and computers of Demonicrats.
There’s no reason for the Russkies to give or sell the hacked emails to those who could damage the Demonicrats, whom the Russkies likely regard as useful idiots.

The source matters to the Democrats because they hoped pinning blame on a caricature of Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale would distract from the incriminating content. They only have three or four plays in their playbook, so this is just a variation on the even more ludicrous sleight of hand they tried with Benghazi and a YouTube video no one ever saw.
I agree. I 100% agree. But this is "The Narrative" and we will hear it repeated right up until the election.
What I'm hoping for is that one of the hackers will get upset with his/her/their lack of credit and go public by releasing a huge batch of really incriminating documents.
OK, "incriminating" isn't an adjective that we can really apply to Dems these days but it still seems like the right choice.

One thing I noticed. Why no disparaging comments about Obama? re they all afraid of him, do they all love him, he is a non-issue to them, was he or a close associate behind the leaks?
The question is why Russia would release the information once they hacked the Democrats, and the answer is obvious. The American economy will completely collapse if Hillary wins (and may be so damaged by eight years of Obama that even under Trump it will collapse). If we go down, so does Europe, and the harm to Russia will be catastrophic. Russia is intervening to save itself from the collateral damage that four more years of our socialism would inflict on their country. We’re just the potential indirect beneficiaries of their self-interest.
