You keep saying that that young man (clearly not a “child” as you stated in your deleted post) is “mentally retarded.” He was simply “stimming” and sometimes focusing his attention elsewhere, which is perfectly common for those with autism regardless of their intelligence level. In fact, a large percentage of autistics have higher than average IQs. In fact, I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised (and I’m not pushing hyperbole here) if his IQ were higher than yours, based on what is frequently seen by those on the spectrum who are capable of getting out and doing things. Many do just fine with things like advanced calculus and physics after all—and certainly complex computer programming is one of the most popular fields for autistics. I wish people would stop attempting to judge intellectual capacity by physical ticks and abnormalities.

We have fortunately moved away from thinking that trying to force disabled people to stay hidden away at home is acceptable. You may have been horribly distracted by someone not acting “normal,” but I’m glad he got to go out like any other human being and see Trump, whom he obviously supports.
