If they pay $300 for a "Small caliber semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine" it will be a blowout. The available funds will go quickly.
Lots of old pistols out there that people would be glad to get $200 for.

Only thing I’d turn in for $200 might be a Charter Arms, North American or some other sattidy night special for that.

As usual, it’s a chance for criminal thugs to upgrade, and for grandma to dispose of her late husband’s priceless antiques and collectables.
In other words, it accomplishes nothing.

last week there was a Savage semi-automatic small caliber rifle with a detachable 10 round magazine in WalMart, brand new, for $99 plus tax. Key word is "small caliber". That would bet you a $100 gift card, so you would only be out the tax on that transaction.

This has to be a joke............Well, maybe not.
Can’t imagine how stupid some people are and it is NOT the people turning in the guns to sell but the people that are “buying” the guns. I can see how the street rats will be very busy the next few days and nights, stealing guns to sell. WalMart better keep a close eye on their supply of .22 rifles if you can make a $200 profit for buying a new one and then selling it at the “Turn-In”. The “Gun Control” people at their finest.

I bought my Marlin 60 for about $125..... Getting $300 would be a good deal.

Our city had one a few years ago (later found to be illegal) and a bunch of pro-gun gun buyers set up across the street with big signs saying “We might pay more” and the like. They picked up some sweet deals. City found out later they can’t do that.

The model 60 does not have a detachable magazine, so they would only pay $100 for it.

Yes. But it has a tube magazine that holds plenty... how stupid they are.

COOL! And if you've just sold your only means of self-defense you can always throw that gift card at an evil-doer and maybe give them a paper cut!

Marlin 795 is the same thing with detachable magazine. Runs about $150.

Gonna be a lot of 10/22’s turned for 300. That will get you two of them back at the store.

Anyone who wants to know what the gun prohibitionists intend to do to get around that pesky “just compensation” provision of the Fifth Amendment need only look here. “Just” is what they say it is, and $300 for that $1500 rifle is what they say is “just”. So, incidentally, is the “due process” that got them there. Naturally there will be no appeal.
To: PROCON
Just use the gift card to upgrade to something better.
Turn in an RG-14 you paid $50 for $200, and buy a Hi-Point 9 mm.
Or turn in an old .22 semi-auto with a detachable magazine, and buy a used Glock.
Lots of possibilities, but those who want to make a profit will have to be quick, because I expect the money will be gone before noon.

Who's that banging on the front door? I don't know. I've never seen them before. Oh look, there are five guys with him.
Quick, get the gun.
Oh honey, I did my civic duty and turned it in three months ago.
Front door comes barging in, six gus with it...
Quick, call the mayor...

Not so - it is a semi-automatic, so it gets $300.

I'd be concerned that I might be buying a stolen gun. Other than that, outbidding the cops for a good quality gun is a good idea.
To: Ancesthntr
You are correct. I missed the small cabliber in the semi-automatic criteria for the $300 card.
