IMO < FaceBook was a well meaning idea that was been turned into something dastardly...

I am there.  It's a defensive measure.  I didn't want anyone else to take up my pen name and spout off there with things I don't buy into.

Other than that. it's a waste of time.

Oh boy I bet they were bored when I was on face book, Auntie Acid; Dollie patterns, knitted shawl patterns, smart butt remarks...love them; cooking receipts, nothing political, no friends and no family...no pictures of where I was or was visiting, use another item for that...

Like I said, very boring stuff...

Seems like a one-stop click to really delete a name from the FakeBook database would get support from many folks.

Facebook knows our cat pooped outside her litter box. They even have a photo of her, along with my wife’s home made cake.

One of my son swears that Facebook listens to users’ conversations. He first noticed when he had been sitting in front of his computer his father in law asked him if he knew anything about steel buildings. They had a brief conversation about steel buildings. My son never searched for the term, but shortly thereafter ads for steel buildings started appearing.

Facebook is a criminals delight. You know when people are on vacation. You know the layout of their homes and yards. You know what their kids look like. You know if they have dogs or not. I don’t see why anyone would have a facebook account.

I did some experimenting with Facebook. I started blocking ads from the Democrats as offensive. I started seeing wacky, left wing and Communist ads. Blocking those led to wacky liberaltarian ads, how not to pay income tax ads, and other crazy stuff. Marking those as offensive did not lead to GOP ads, as I expected it would. Instead, the political ads ceased.

WHO knows the most about you?

You might say it’s your partner or perhaps your mum, assuming you’ve had the sort of tame life a parent would find acceptable.

But you’d be wrong, because tech companies now have more information about you than almost anyone else.

The firm with the largest information stash is likely to be Google, which could theoretically tell an awful lot about your life based on your search history.

Now Mark Zuckerberg’s firm has revealed the 98 “data points” it holds on all users, which can be found in a new website revealing how it targets users with advertising.

“We want the ads people see on Facebook to be interesting, useful and relevant,” a Facebook spokesman said.

“Like many companies, we use widely available information to help show people better ads. However, unlike many of those companies, we provide information that helps explain this practice, and we give people ways to opt out and help control their experience.”
