France To Deploy 3,000 Troops To Schools: "The Threat Is Real" Education Minister Says

Two weeks ago we reported that as part of its proactive effort to tackle future terrorist attacks, the French government announced that starting in September, French 14-year-olds would receive lessons how to survive a terrorist attack on their schools, following a spate of Islamist killings in recent months. It appears that was not enough, because earlier today the France interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced France would deploy about 3,000 reserve troops, train school authorities and ramp up school anti-terror drills in case of attacks, its education and security ministers announced on Wednesday, a week before the start of a new academic year.

"The threat is high, it is real," Education Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, said during a joint news conference in Paris alongside Cazeneuve. "This is not about ceding to panic or paranoia," she added quoted by Reuters.

About 12 million students are expected to head back to school across France from on Sept. 1. All students aged 13-14 will be adding basic life-saving measures to their portfolio of skills, in case they need to provide assistance to classmates in a worse-case scenario. Right now, only 30% of students are trained, the Education Minister said in a Wednesday press conference, according to AP.

Public schools, colleges, etc in America are just opening up for the next school year.

Does Beslan ring a bell with anyone?

It surely would be cheaper to arm and train a certain percentage of teachers and staff in each school to carry concealed so that attackers would not know which personnel needed to be shot first. They could induct them all into the army, perhaps, to maintain the no civilian carrying of guns principle.

So France won’t protect their borders, then they’ll have to protect their schools.

I can see the same thing happening in America. But just like at airports, everyone will be treated as a potential terrorist. This is what is taking place by design.

Treat the cause, not the symptom. Why not deport the terrorists?

Yup.

That's why they want to keep importing mohamicidals. Make all the citizens prisoners.

You can never defend everything as the terrorists get to pick and decide what to attack. That’s why the best defense is a good offense.

That, of course. But in the meantime because it will take time to deport 10% of the population and those still on French soil will be going all out to kill as many as they can, arm the teachers and staff.

I looked at their newspaper Le Figaro yesterday and it was about Catholic schools getting more security.

Why is it that they don’t choose the easiest solution - get rid of all the muslims? That would solve almost all the problems facing France today.

“1984” was supposed to be a warning, not a plan for government.

Agree completely and worth repeating.
If the authorities really wanted to deal with this menace then the first step would be to halt the invasion of France by illegals. The 3000 troops (and the rest) should be deployed on their borders.

Yes, they replaced border customs with “flying custom” agents. They can come stop your car anywhere in country to check if your stuff is not foreign bought.

Isn’t multiculturalism just great. Isn’t strength through diversity just great.

I once, long ago, when I use to read newspapers, noticed an above the fold article about Jesse Jackson talking to a group touting strength through diversity.

Same newspaper (to be clear) there was a below the fold article about Jesse Jackson talking to a black organization touting strength through unity.

I kid you not.

Textbook example of how tyrants do it - create chaos then solve it with a police state.
