I think this is an attemp to appeal to white women voters, the soccer mom types who hear the word “deportation” and think of Nazi stormtroopers putting Jews into cattle cars during WWII. That’s why Trump keeps using the word “humanely,” to take that negative image out of these women’s minds.
Fox news is glossing over the part where he said that nothing has changed regarding the fact that we’re going to enforce our laws. Also, the media is conveniently overlooking the fact that we don’t need a deportation force; we already have ICE and the Border Patrol, who have been hamstrung by Obama and not allowed to do their jobs.
I do wish Trump would talk about self-deportation, which is the humane way to get these people to go home without costing the taxpayers a boatload of money. Remove incentives for their coming and being here and they’ll go. It’s very simple, and why Trump isn’t talking about it is a mystery to me.

Agreed. Turning off the magnet that draws them across the border, is the most effective thing we can do, to stop illegal immigration. As long as they’re rewarded for jumping the border, they’ll continue to do it. Remove the incentives, and it will stop.

You’d think that someone so adept at strategies and tactics (as Trump is) would make those dynamics the central focus of his solution to the problem.

You want to stop any crime? Simply take away the incentives for committing it.

I think so, too - women are highly vulnerable to the Democrats' "It's cruel to break up immigrant families" message. Honestly, that voting demographic is under intense pressure to vote for the "historic" candidate already. If Trump needs to adjust his course to keep them in the ranks, that just means he's learning very fast.

However, if he abandons the border control issue completely, the American anger that has fueled his rise to the candidacy will quickly turn on him. I'm sure he knows that he'd be playing with fire.
