Sorry, but the buck stops with the guy supposedly supervising the shooter. They are relying on the fact that no one in court will want to blame the victim. He handed the gun to her and it's his job to evaluate her ability and also instruct her to hold it tightly and lean into it, and all the other things my father taught me at that age. 8 is pretty young for for fully auto. Maybe 10-12 is more safe. At 8, I was shooting a .22 and .410, .38, ect. Of course when dad handed me his 30.06 and the ole 12ga, it was mainly there to teach me respect and keep me in reality.

For a family to pay for a "gun vacation" to get their kids familiar with full auto just sounds icky for some reason. I have no problem with semi auto at those ages. If your 8, I would have held on to the fore stock and let them pull the trigger. Hitting the target doesn't even count for this type experience.

I grew up in an age where the dad took care of teaching firearm safety. How times have changed.
