Then why the horrific death rate in the Paris theater and in the attacks in Florida?
Simple.
Semi-Auto, aimed fire at unarmed, untrained civilians in an enclosed space with no place to hide. And in the case of the FL disco; no place to exit, because someone was holding the exit door closed.
Semi-auto fire can easily be aimed at a close-range, human-sized target at 2+rounds per second.
In full auto, at a cyclic rate of 600 rounds/minute, a 30 round mag is empty in 3 seconds, with very little accuracy control after the first round.
We're talking a light, hand-held rifle; not a tripod-mounted machine gun.
Plus, if I recall the news reports correctly, all the weapons used were described as semi-auto.
