Never go to a national park (especially a popular one) in the summer. The crowds are unbearable and most people are just plain ignorant.

You can find great camping (no frills, for sure) in national forests and, by and large, stupid people avoid them because there aren’t any McDonald’s nearby and you have to be much more self reliant

The selfie generation is driving me crazy. We were just in Europe and the incessant photo taking (hogging scenic outlooks, stopping in the middle of crowded paths, poking the selfie stick in front of your face) was extremely annoying. This social media era has just gone way too far and I hope the pendulum at some point swings back.

“The selfie generation is driving me crazy.”

I remember how we used to snicker at all the Japanese tourists who had multiple cameras around their necks, taking selfies in front of every and anything in the parks during the eighties. Who would’ve ever guessed it would become as prolific as it is now?
