A federal government ban on the sale of guns to medical marijuana card holders does not violate the 2nd Amendment, a federal appeals court said Wednesday.

The ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals applies to the nine Western states that fall under the court's jurisdiction, including California, Washington and Oregon.

It came in a lawsuit filed by S. Rowan Wilson, a Nevada woman who tried to buy a firearm in 2011 after obtaining a medical marijuana card.

Can you buy a gun if you give up your med MJ card? Do these things have expiration dates? Or is it lifetime like Lautenberg?

So a ‘right,’ aka a God-given attribute, can be denied a citizen for having participated with a sound mind in a legal behavior? Either self-defense isn’t a right, or all rights are can be suspended at the state’s convenience.

Well, duh.

Obviously in a rigged system where corruption reigns supreme (perfect example: Hillary Clinton) and the Constitution no longer serves as a constraint on the arbitrary whims of black-robed would-be petty tyrants, the words “shall not be infringed” must be interpreted to mean “shall be infringed.”

I assure you, that is where we are headed.

Alcoholics are also prohibited from purchasing firearms.

The equivalency would be people who have ever had a beer.

Any conservative who supports this outrageous ruling is truly a fool, because YOU'RE NEXT.

I guess this is one issue that has to be worked out.

I don't believe that is true. First, how would they be identified ? Now, if you mean people that have lost their driver's license over drunk driving, or who are on probation, then I could believe that.

If the Feds consider legal medical marijuana as legitimate - how do they dare say that this legal right is superseded by the right to bear arms? Or, whatever!

Stupidity re-defined...

Well technically no right has been suspended. As a matter of fact, no right was even addressed. The only thing that was addressed is your privilege, in your corporate capacity as a fictitious person.

The country is being lost because of a total lack of interest in such details.

The 9th Circus?

Hopefully, few FReepers would applaud such an obviously un-Constitutional decision. This will be overturned.

Being prescribed medicine does not cancel Unalienable Rights.

If all alcohol drinkers were barred from purchasing guns, there would be very few gun owners in this country...

Vote Trump!

I consider medical marijuana to be nonsense for the overwhelming majority of users. Most are druggies using a contrived excuse to evade the law. However, I do not think drug use should be relevant to exercising God-given rights. Druggies should be permitted to buy firearms at will.

with ‘judges’ like this, our Republic and liberties are doomed...... pray, however, please pray....maybe He will have mercy on us yet....

Isaiah lived in a time of corrupt or unjust judges and corrupt government, too........ first chapter, exerpt:

“21 How is the faithful city
Become a harlot!
She that was full of justice,
Righteousness lodged in her,
But now murderers.
22Thy silver is become dross,
Thy wine mixed with water.
23Thy princes are rebellious,
And companions of thieves;
Every one loveth bribes,
And followeth after rewards;
They judge not the fatherless,
Neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

24Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts,
The Mighty One of Israel:
Ah, I will ease Me of Mine adversaries,
And avenge Me of Mine enemies;
25And I will turn My hand upon thee,
And purge away thy dross as with lye,
And will take away all thine alloy;
26And I will restore thy judges as at the first, And thy counsellors as at the beginning;
Afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness,
The faithful city.
27Zion shall be redeemed with justice,
And they that return of her with righteousness.”
