A US student who supposedly died in China in 2004 has reportedly turned up alive in North Korea after being kidnapped to serve as Kim Jong Un's personal tutor.

David Sneddon of Brigham Young University disappeared in Yunnan Province aged 24, in what Chinese police said was probably a hiking accident.

But the reality, according to Choi Sung-yong, head of South Korea's Abductees' Family Union, is that he was kidnapped to be an English tutor to the then-heir to North Korea Yahoo News Japan reported Wednesday.

Couldn't this be considered an act of war? The abduction of a US citizen on Chinese territory and of course, making the Chinese look weak and easily fooled via North Korea having spies on their sovereign territory and just sending in agents/spies to conduct abductions should be cause enough in the eyes of the Chinese.

they used to do this to Japanese people on public beaches also.

usually they were sent to be language and culture teachers to North Korean spies in training so that they could pass themselves off as Japanese in case they wanted to bomb an airliner or carry-out sabotage activities ashore.

What a nightmare for him, and his family & friends. Just awful if true.

What is Obama doing about this? And, importantly, how long has he, Clinton, and others known about this?

And in South Koreans as well.

I seem to remember a film star and director who were kidnapped back in the 70's.

How is it that we continue to treat NK like a country rather then a bunch of pirates?

People dismiss him and make jokes at their own peril, I fear. He’s a freaking nut, but a freaking nut with nukes and a massive, brainwashed army. Nothing to joke about.

Imagine his terror when the little riceball gives him hungry eyes. Human bulgogi is said to be a Kim Jong Un fave; explains why he is the only nonskinny person in the DPRK.

The Marines invade scene from the movie "The Wind and the Lion" comes to mind as a solution. I always enjoy this part.

Wasn’t there a Star Trek episode where some alien race kidnapped Kirk as an experiment of their top leaders, and put women in his cage to mate with him?

Is Kim Jong Un a fan of Star Trek?

But he didn't used to.

And we still acted like that pirate haven was a country.

So, sorry. Not an excuse.

And it is not that there is any North Koran export that we can not live without.

If this kid ever gets away, he will have some story to tell.

Maybe young David will convert Kim Jong Un to Mormonism and the goofy little creep will put down his nukes, dress all his people in white shirts and ties and send them forth to convert the world in a non-violent manner.

He’s not nuts, just very, very clever and ruthless, like his ancestors going back thousands of years. These people are not to be taken or viewed lightly and he is not just like every American overweight spoiled heir, he is a sadistic cutthroat. He executed blood relatives who he thought were going to end up interfering in his work and undermine his position.

Believable. The Norks have done this before.

Especially against the Japanese.

As far as I know NK doesn't export anything to anybody.

But we allow them legal status as a country and there is no reason why we should.
