According to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, the Cape Canaveral mishap was not an explosion but a "fast fire."
yes. This seems instant from a human perspective, but it really a fast fire, not an explosion. Dragon would have been fine.

Agree with Elon. This was not an explosion, but perfectly executed bonfire feature. If you watch carefully, events were orchestrated with great precision; the tiny little sticks with marshmallows deployed at the exact moment and retracted once a golden-brown toasting had been achieved.
